Well, let me put you at ease right from the start. You will notice that it is called the Time Dilation Effect, not Time Dilation proper. That is because we will be attempting to reconstruct, or imitate the Time Dilation Effect. I assure you that no ooga-booga shall be entered into in the pages to follow. I shall try and keep it as scientific as I know how, and attempt to give full explanations and examples of the sometimes vague and unexplained phenomenon.
