The U.S. Criminal Justice System (Modern-Day Slavery)

This book addresses how the U.S. criminal Justice system mirrors slavery from the 1800's. In story form, the book paints a clear picture of the similarities between the two and how the U.S. justice system is terribly flawed, especially when it comes to those of color. In the words of a black female judge, "we used to pick the cotton...now we are the cotton." This is a profound statement indeed! Why? Because the statement is true.
