I enjoyed the first book but the writing in this sequel improved dramatically even from the first book, I thought. This has everything I like in fantasy--moral complexity, vivid worldbuilding, a complicated and vividly real protagonist. I loved it.

This book, The Vanishing Throne, is the second book in the Falconer Trilogy. This book is suspenseful, however, I had a difficult time staying with it, since I had not read the first book. However, saying that, Elizabeth May has a gift of writing which makes the reader feel as if they are part of the action. I would like to come back to this book after reading book one. I would recommend this for anyone who has an interest in this book. I was given this book by NetGalley and Chronicle Books for my honest review.

I really liked the first book, but this one is absolutely A. MAZ. ING! Her description and the depth of her details is incredible, and I finished it in one night! It kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering, 'Holy pineapples, whats going to happen?!' I tend to prefer bad guys who know what they're doing to the ones who are hell-bent on revenge, and the fae lord introduced in this book is a good bad guy. That's the kind who methodoticly carry out a plan to take over the universe and enslave humanity while drinking champagne and think 'nothing you can do, but to be sure, let's do this!' This is a good book. You should read it.
