About the Author

Raised in a farming family, the author had a varied career before settling in biomedical science. He has worked in farming, forestry, factories and retail as well as spending five years as a service engineer, during which time he produced his first published book, a gardening book which has since been followed by three more.
Widdowed at 33, he has travelled widely in Europe, Africa and South America and recently remarried in the Channel Islands, where he worked for several months through the summer of 2012.
