The true story of teenager Lewis Wetzel, settler's son living on the frontier during the Revolutionary War. The enemy is not the British, but their proxy, the Shawnee, Wyandot and Mingo warriors who are trying to drive out the settler invaders. Lewis becomes a hero because the militia can't protect his neighbors, but he can, as he learns to become a one-man army during a time of one-shot muskets.
