I am always on the lookout for a new leadership book. It helps me sharpen my skills and approach. I always seem to find something of use in every book of quality that I have read. Thinking Like a Boss started out being a "what did I get myself into" kind of book. Kate Crocco writes Thinking Like a Boss for women. I may have missed that somewhere in the description when the review copy was sent out. I was afraid that I might be a little under-qualified for the suggestions in this book. I am glad to say that I was so wrong. It may seem on the surface that Crocco is writing only to women. She refers to the ladies reading this book. Anyone who is honest about their emotions of fear and doubt, worries of being a fraud or failure, or thinking you can't do the thing you really want to do needs to read this book. Nothing is earth-shatteringly new or unique. Having Crocco tell her story while repeating the fear-busting concepts we have all heard before breathes a different life into the reader. Before the end of the book, I began to take some of the suggestions to heart and stepped out into things that fear was holding me back from. If you are male, female, or transgendered, this is going to allow you to find your "Why". It is going to offer avenues to explore to overcome, or at least detour around, any barriers that are created that get in the way of pursuing what you really want.

Thinking Like a Boss: Uncover and Overcome the Lies Holding You Back from Success by Kate Crocco is an encouraging book that empowers women to leave their insecurities behind, and to make their business dreams come true. I like how Crocco combats lies people tell themselves when they wonder if they can start businesses successfully. She has a lot of great ideas and solutions that combat the lies and beliefs that sometimes hold people back from achieving their dreams. My favorite chapters were Lie #6: I Need to Say Yes to Every Opportunity that Comes My Way, and Lie #10: "It's Already Been Done Before," especially like the part about finding your niche. This inspirational book helps women reflect on their fears and really "think like a boss."  I received this book for review.

A few of the things that attracted me to this book is that Kate is a wife, a mom of two, an entrepreneur and a psychotherapist. She is not only writing from experience - but also from a professional background. There are many fluffy self help books out there and this isn’t one of them. Kate’s understanding of our mind chatter and limiting beliefs is SO HELPFUL. Not only that - she actually knows how to help you overcome them! I also love her attitude - she’s so kind, thoughtful, and very humble. I don’t know her personally - in fact I’ve never heard of her before - but she comes across that way from the book and it feels very genuine. As an entrepreneur - I love the hustle - and Kate has such a gentle way of communicating balance and to give time to what and who are important to us. For me, I want to be a successful entrepreneur - but never at the expense of my family and I feel very supported in that through this book. Thank you SO MUCH Kate, for pouring your heart and soul into this beautiful book!!! You inspire me ❤️

After working with Kate one on one for a few years as my own business, mindset, and confidence coach, I KNEW I had to snag my copy of her new book! In it, she dives into and unpacks the top 12 lies that can severely hinder, not only female business owners, but also women in general. After unpacking these lies, she gives you tips and mantras to overcome them so that you leave each chapter feeling hopeful and refreshed. I found the money mindset chapters to be the most impactful, as that can be such a block for us as women to accept that we can both serve well AND make a decent salary. There was so much truth in this book, I found myself highlighting multiple passages on multiple pages. Just 100% obsessed!

I have handful of books that I revisit often- they are my go to when my thoughts and actions are feeling stale and just need a jump start to my business or in life. This book will be my manual for years to come. I've been looking for a book to add to my collection and so happy I came across this one!

I want to preface this review by letting you know that I am not an entrepreneurial minded woman. I don't have big dreams of starting my own practice or business. This book is for every woman. Yes, it's written with the business woman in mind but I believe all women will benefit from reading Kate's thoughts. Kate's 12 Affirmations are for the full-time working women, the SAHMs, the ladies just dipping their toes into direct selling, the college girls dreaming of the future. The lies Kate tackles and the affirmations she encourages us with are applicable to life in general not just specifically in relation to business. I was especially impacted by Kate's thoughts on generosity and time. So many thoughts and encouragements will stick with me from this read. I love having the opportunity to learn from other women and I'm grateful for women like Kate who share what they've learned with the rest of us.

To say Kate's message is life-changing would be an understatement - I will be eternally grateful for her boldness in carrying this message into the world and into my life. Fantastic read for entrepreneurs, but still 100% relevant for someone not looking to start a business as well!

There are lies that can be overcome in order to reach success in business Psychotherapist, confidence and mindset coach, mentor and weekly podcast host Kate Crocco presents her book "Thinking Like a Boss. Uncover and Overcome the Lies Holding You Back from Success", published by Baker Books. Crocco wants her readers to be open to think bigger. She states that she wants to hep the readers believe that they have what it takes to show up as their best selves. She present the twelve most destructive beliefs that hold someone back from accomplishing their dreams, e.g. "I need to have it all together", "I need to say yes to every opportunity", or "I am not capable of handling success." Crocco tackles those excuses and shows the readers how to deal with them. Two questions which she asks repeatedly are very important: "How badly do you want to reach your goal" and "What are you willing to give up in order to take steps toward your dream." I really appreciated that Crocco is very personal about her own challenges, struggles, and experiences. She encourages readers to get practical in presenting exercises and actionable steps, e.g., in writing affirmations on note cards and placing them around the house (ch. 1) or to pause and take an inventory of your vocabulary (ch. 2). Though the target group is mainly female readers (that does not exclude that men cannot also profit from this book) who want to start a business (and I highly recommend the book for them), Crocco's steps and principles can also be applied to other situations. The notes that are provided at the end of the book will also help for reference and further study. The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through Apricot Services and NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review.
