I was given this book right before Halloween and I think that it was a perfect book to be reading during this time of year. The book is written from the point of view of Kerry, a sophomore high school girl who is doing her best to just blend into the wallpaper at her school. But one day at lunch she catches the eye of Tanya, a senior and one of the school's top social bracket. When Kerry gets pulled in, she becomes a new girl, and typical with this situation, it runs its course, but has a tragic end. When Tanya and two of her best friends are killed in a car wreck, Kerry plunges into a deep depression and she goes back to being obscure. Its during this depression that the book changes its tone. Starting from where Kerry gets a text message from one of the dead girls, the story is very etherial and spooky. Kerry goes to New York, to the apartment where Tanya is at and you really wonder if Kerry is really seeing these things, or has her depression clouded her mind. The closing scene is something that plays out like a scene from a horror film and you finally start to see the cloud lift from her. This is perfect for a spooky read during this time of year, and its quick, but you still get a satisfying closure. You really dont have any clue as to the ending till its right there in front of you, so the author does a great job of keeping you guessing.

If you've had a loss, this will creep you out. It is way more graphic than the blurb leads you to think.
