What did I just step in?!
The last thing in life I ever expected was walking into a career caring for pets! A sudden change of gears led me to say goodbye to corporate life and hello to a crazy, new lifestyle ranging from surreal and tender moments to unexpected adventures. These behind the scenes stories share how I started and built a successful pet care business with comical and crazy misadventures along the way!
What started as a casual part-time business quickly grew and flourished into a high demand 24/7/365 work-life and swiftly expanded from working solo to a team of 10. Little did I know how demanding this career was going to be, yet the most organically rewarding too. As a child, I had an instinct with animals. That developed as I got older and I noticed I was able to communicate and connect with our furry friends. The animals knew of our unique connection before I did, and the mutual gravitation was inevitable!
I began capturing pictures of my interactions with pet clients and the feedback struck a chord as I was often being compared and referred to as the Ann Geddes of pet photography. Well, I'm a far cry from Ms. Geddes as I only use an iPhone and capture candids, but the sincerity was very humbling to hear! Not only have I been able to bond with pets that have extreme fear, anxiety, or abusive past lives, but I have saved houses from fire, gas leaks, and floods. And oh, did I mention cat attacks, being in the middle of a dognapping, tracking and rescuing runaway pups, or being rushed to the ER for a sliced finger? Just a part of my typical day!
