Richard A. King lives in what he calls "The Cycle," involving recurring bouts of depression and mania. The Cycle cost him his marriage to Rebecca Wilson, although they remained in each other's lives; later, when she was dying of cancer, she made him promise that he wouldn't do anything to harm himself for at least two years after her passing.
