This book is a biography about Tony Hawk by Tony Hawk. The book is good for kids ages 9 to 12. He writes about growing up and making decisions about his career. He starts off as a surprise. His parents weren't expecting another kid. He was not like his brothers and sisters. His brothers and sisters were very calm and level-headed. He was a total spaz. He was the "King Kong of tantrams," It was part of his diet. His mom let him get his our shopping cart and put whatever he wanted in there. He also had a competitive edge. When he and his mom were playing tennis, he kept pelting her with tennis balls. She would serve it over the net and he would charge forward load up his arm like a slingshot. Then release. When he went preschool is was a sad day for little Tony. He knew he had to get out of there. He would put his fingers in the fence, close it and start balling his head off. He would go crazy. He did it everyday. Until, his dad and the teachers had a talk. He wouldn't go back to Christpher Robin Preschool ever again. His dad thought it was funny. When he finally started elementary school, he couldn't concentrate. He fidgeted with pencils. His mom couldn't understand why. So she had him take an IQ test and he scored 144. His parents had a chance put him in advanced classes. He went to the advanced classes. He saw if you weren't paying attention the teacher would hit you in the head with a reem of paper. He got so scared he went back to the other classes. When his brother,Steve went to college, Tony wasn't happy. He and his brother were bffs. He'd let Tony hang out with his friends. He would visit once a month. They got bored one afternoon. Then Steve pulled out a blue fiber glass skateboard. Steve was a surfer so he skated from time to time. They went to an alley with no cars and Tony rode it. He kept crashing. He complained to his brother that he couldn't turn Steve showed him how to avoid things. He liked it, but it wasn't something he craved. Every other week, he pulled out the skateboard and cruised in the alley. He skated more and more. Six months later, he skated a few times a week. Some kids in the neighborhood skated. Once he started skating more. He begged and pleaded with his parents to let him go to the local skatepark Oasis. They didn't have the money to get a park membership. So his dad built him a slant ramp. His parent loved encouraging him. They saw that he enjoyed skating so much that they bought him a new board. For the first time a neighborhood kid asked him if he wanted to go to Oasis with him and his friends. He begged and pleaded his mom and dad and said his life would be horrible if they didn't let him go. After a day of that they let him go. His first time at Oasis was so great he had to take it all in. He was very happy to be at Oasis. He went to the beginner bowl. He practiced all day. On the way back something had changed in him. He was hooked on skating. He got so good that he got sponsored at age fourteen. He has done a lot with his career as a skateboarder. He started his own company that makes skateboard equipment and gear. This is a very inspirational book. It shows you how to follow your dreams. Anyone who likes Tony Hawk will love this book. Read this book!!

This is a decent book, in my opinion, for a few reasons. The first being it gives someone who does not skateboard a deeper understanding of skateboarding, not only that, but it shows the things it can do for a person and the places it can take you. I personally liked how it gave background information about Tony Hawk and his life of skateboarding. I think that this book is for anyone interested in skateboarding or for anyone who is looking to get a little background information if they are looking to start skateboarding. The theme that stood out to me was never give up and that hard work pays off which makes this book a good motivator for people. One should not read this book if they have no interest in skateboarding. It is debatable if this book should be made into a movie only because Tony Hawk is already so well known and a lot of people already know his story so I do not think it should be made into a movie, but it could be. Overall I would rate this book at about a three due to the detail and all the information about Tony Hawk’s life. However this book would not be useful for a school curriculum unless the school is studying skateboarding. I would strongly suggest reading the book if you are looking for some good information about skateboarding.

this book is a great idea of how skateboarding is. It is a biography about tony hawk. This is one of my favorite books now because I love skateboarding and this tells me how one of the best guys out there came up and how his life was as a kid. It also talks about his career choices that he made. His parents really did not think they were going to have another kid he was a surprise. whe he was little his parents kind just let him do what ever e wanted for example they would go shopping and his mom would let his put anything he wants in the cart. After school everyday he would go o the skate park and just skate entitle one of his parents came to get him. He was always a vary energetic kid his parents always had a hard time controlling him and keeping his focused at school. The first time that he went to the skate park called Oasis was with one of his friends and after that that's all he really did. then he went to the beginner bowl he did so much practice and training for this. After this he was all about skating he was so good that at the age or 14 he was sponsored. this book really makes me what to try my hardest and do my best at skating. It has inspired me to learn more tricks and skate every day.
