About the Author

Adultery, alcoholism, & mental illness are very real, but sometimes overlooked, social issues that I like to write about. Why, you ask? Because drama is raw, drama is pure-and drama evokes emotion like no other. And when you combine it with tall, dark, & handsome-it's positively electrifying. Giving my characters these afflictions is what makes them human, warts and all. Even heroes have a chink or two in their armor. My stories are filled with angst, intimacy, despair, and hope. If you like these things, and don't mind a few racy scenes or a sprinkling of profanity here and there, then my books are for you. I have written four novels to date: "After All Is Said And Done", "The Monster of Silver Creek", "Seasons of Darkness", and the recently released "Tragedy at Silver Creek". Be sure and click on the video trailers to get a sneak peek of what I'm talking about. I love to chat almost as much as I like to write, so come visit me on Facebook at Or hop on over to my website to learn about my newest releases and giveaways: Thanks for stopping by my page!

When I interviewed Ms. Buchanan for The Authors Show, she said she wrote in HD. After reading both of her Silver Creek Mysteries, she’s now made me a believer. Her description of the environment, the people, even the cat, takes me to Silver Creek as though I’m part of the story. I could feel the rain coming down, the emotional pain of Jack, and the hurt Katie feels brought on by gossiping members of the commujity. The characters have rolled over from Monster of Silver Creek, with the addition of a couple, and this book deals with confronting and healing the trauma from book 1. Even the man I loved to hate in both books, the egotistical Mayor Manning, shows toward the end that even he can say something nice about someone else. The ending of Tragedy was heartwarming and left me with a feeling of hope for these characters I’ve come to care about. I do hope Ms. Buchanan plans to continue her Silver Creek Mystery series, because I’d love to see where they go from here. Overall, this is a wonderful story that is well-written, has a sense of suspense and makes you keep turning the pages till you reach the very end.

I absolutely loved this book and as cliché as it sounds it would make a spectacular movie! Firstly, this is definitely a standalone there was no disadvantage of not having read book 1, which I have now moved onto. Secondly, the characters and the complexity of their relationships is cleverly and skilfully shown in the narrative and dialogue so as not to tell the reader what to think or perceive. Thirdly, the plots and sub-plots are outstanding both in composition and development. The way they are developed carries the perfect balance of suspense, intrigue and tension whilst still allowing the reader to empathize with the characters and their circumstances. The well-crafted writing of this thriller is complimented by excellently written childbirth scenes, the demonstration of first time mum issues in the early weeks whilst trying to resolve relationship issues and the powerful chapter on the emptying of Nathan's house is the best I have read in a long time. I am really excited to read more by this author and highly recommend this book and I promise you will not want to put it down and the twists at the end will stay with you long after you finish reading it.
