I love a good story. I especially love a good story that is based on true life. Ernie Johnson is a legend in the Sports Journalism world and a master with words. However, life does not always come as scripted. Life comes with all sorts of unexpected turns and events, but Ernie reminds us to take advantage of the moments and to savor the memories, what Ernie calls the blackberry moments. Ernie begins the book by recalling some youth baseball memories, the story of the blackberries, and times with his dad who was a professional pitcher for the braves and a sportscaster as well. Ernie recounts the lessons, character, skills, and love of baseball that was passed onto him by His father. Ernie then recounts the struggles and blessing of raising kids, the amazing journey adopting and caring for their disabled son, and his battle with cancer. When you read the book, it feels as if you are sitting down with an Uncle or father over a cup of iced tea on a Georgia back porch. It is always intriguing to learn the stories behind the individuals that we see on TV each week. Ernie Johnson's story is definitely one that is worth your time. So grab a cup of iced tea and seat on your back porch and glean some wisdom from this great man. Note: I received this book a free copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The stories told were very moving and were an encouragement to me as I could relate to the curveballs that life often throws, but through ones faith we can rise above the difficult circumstances that we have to face.
