Overview

Unspoken by Brenda Rothert

Palmer Sinclair was on the edge of happily ever after when she broke off her engagement to Brady Grant. The end of their relationship marked the beginning of a painful solitary journey for her. Though she makes places beautiful with her work as an interior designer, the rest of her life is anything but beautiful – it's slowly pulling her under.
Brady, a contractor, is swiftly building his business into an empire. Work is a faithful companion that never lets him down like Palmer did. When he sees women now, it's on his terms. And his terms are simple: just sex. He won't let a woman break him again.
Palmer is barely holding it together when she and Brady are unexpectedly paired on a project after a year apart. The pull between them is stronger than ever, but the fallout from their reconnection leaves them both wondering if maybe some things are better left unsaid.

Palmer and Georges are best friends but also business partners. Palmer is engaged to Brady and they are the loves of each others lives. Georges was helping Palmer with her wedding planning. Palmer has just been hired to design a nursery for twins- a boy and a girl. Both Brady and Palmer have to concentrate on their careers. Palmer’s older brother Danny has the mind of a four year old is in a wheelchair and is in his twenties. But Danny lit up Palmer’s life. Danny had to be lifted in and out of his chair and Palmer’s mom was always in a lot of pain from her back, she was to have surgery Then the x-ray showed a mass in Palmer’s mother's lungs. A biopsy shows it is cancer. Brady’s father had been a successful contractor and was in prison as he swindled his employees and his clients Brady has to go out of town for a job. One evening he was talking to Palmer and he asks her about moving to Colorado as the job market was good there and Brady could start his own business and get out from under his father’s misdeeds and to get his brother from the bad crowd he hangs with. But Palmer said her business was where she is at and now her mother’s cancer and she has her brother Danny to take care of. Palmer mentions putting off the wedding for awhile as she wants the wedding to be a happy time not a stressed out time. Brady blew up but calmed himself down and said they would talk when he came home again. After a lot of misunderstandings and not saying how they really felt Palmer broke the engagement which breaks both her and Brady’s heart. Brady had even accused Palmer of cheating. Brady has changed and is still bitter and angry at Palmer. Brady wants nothing to do with relationships he only wants sex from random women as he was determined not to get hurt again. Brady comes back to build as house for a friend and his fiance a year later. He didn’t know Palmer was the designer and they had to work together every day Palmer is very stressed when she sees Brady again with the full care of her brother and mother and her business. But Palmer and Brady have a special bond neither could break no matter how hard they tried. Old feelings start to come forth and Brady and Palmer sleep together. But Brady is a mean butt afterwards. I truly liked this story a lot.Brady made it hard to like him very much but I did realize he was hurting. I loved how Palmer put others before her own happiness. I do think Palmer should have made Brady work harder to get back in bed with her. But I also understood where she was coming from I did choke up at times and smiled at others while reading this which is a good thing. I felt like I was there with Palmer and Brady. This was well written and had a fast pace and I thought the plot was very good. I hurt for Palmer when she hurt so bad and everything else she had to deal with. But i liked the characters and i loved Palmer’s character. I loved the ins and outs of this story and I recommend.

My Thoughts: I went into this story feeling like it had potential for something extremely beautiful. While it was a nice story, there was something about it that sort of fell short for me. It feels as though Brady and Palmer could be perfect for one another, but issues came between them and caused them to go their separate ways. Now that they're stuck together, they can't avoid each other...or the past. They try to avoid it, but their connection is one they can't deny. Palmer and Brady can't refrain themselves from getting involved again, behind closed doors anyway. Will they be able to open up about the real reasons why they broke up to begin with and be able to rebuild again? Unspoken was a romance filled with emotion and honesty. The relationship "issues" that came between them were mostly misunderstandings and could have been resolved. The intensity of their getting back together seemed a little bit extreme, but I could still feel the love Brady and Palmer shared. While the drama felt a little over the top, it was still a sweet romance in the end. My Rating: Pretty Good

Palmer Sinclair and Brady Grant are engaged, planning their wedding, and ready to live happily ever after. But, as so often happens, life has other plans. When Palmer's mother is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and Brady is left having to pay for the mistakes that his father made, decisions are made, angry words are spoken, and Brady and Palmer go their separate ways. But here's the thing about life: nothing is set in stone, and second chances are sometimes hidden right in front of us. You know those books that are sort of like a roller-coaster, with the build-up, the stomach-jolting drop, all of the crazy emotions during the ride, and the feeling of satisfaction that comes at the end? Well, UNSPOKEN is all of this and more. This book took me for one heck of a ride, and I'm still loving every single part of it. This book had so many facets, joy, devastating sadness, love, passion, redemption, forgiveness. I don't think that there was one emotion missing from the spectrum; Brenda managed to cover them all. There were times that I wanted to smack Brady during the course of the book, but he had totally won me over by the end. He saw the flaws in his actions, and did not hesitate to make amends and change his ways. And, even when he was being the proverbial horse's behind, he was sexy as all get-out. There was no way that Palmer could resist him, and the sexy times are seriously off the charts between the two of them. I feel like Brenda Rothert just keeps growing as an author, covering topics in her books that are often uncomfortable, but always so very real. My thanks to her for bringing us along for a very emotional ride. I highly recommend UNSPOKEN, and look forward to reading more about these characters in the future.

5 Amazingly Beautiful Stars! TITLE~ Unspoken AUTHOR~  Brenda Rothert   GENRE~ Contemporary Romance PUBLISHED~ October 18th 2014 by Silver Sky Publishing, Inc. PURCHASED/COST~ Arc for review MY RATING~ 5/5 MY THOUGHTS~  I was provided with an ARC for review. I love all thing Brenda Rothert so reading Unspoken was a no-brainer for me. However, she blew me away with this book! In my opinion, this is by far some of her best work yet. Unspoken is a multifaceted read. It evokes a myriad of feelings and emotions. From familiar obligations, relationships, and challenges to romantic relationships and all that goes along with those -Unspoken has it all. It's written so very well and flows nicely. The characters are so realistic too. I couldn't put this book down! I absolutely love it and hope maybe some day we might get a sequel. Don't get me wrong though, Unspoken is absolutely a complete story on it's own, but I think a certain younger brother...Troy!...could definitely use his own book!
