Overview

Political propaganda would have us believe vampires are our friends. Fanged teddy bears misunderstood thanks to archaic lore. Activists picket for them to be welcomed into our society. They claim vamps don't kill. They preach we are safe. They ... are dead wrong. One year ago a hive slaughtered my family and left me for dead. Found by a team of scientists with their own agenda, I was forged into an unstoppable weapon. I possess their strength, with none of their weaknesses. I can move among them free from their crippling hunger. I am their greatest threat. Armed with this arsenal, vengeance will feed my desire to penetrate the seedy underbelly of their fetishized lifestyle and expose them for the monsters they truly are."The writing is brilliant along with the plot. It was a different twist from all the other vampire novels I've read and it was fantastic." - USA Today Bestselling Author, A.M. Hargrove

Veiled By: Stacey Rourke ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review by Kristie K A brilliant and intriguing new vampire world, brimming with mystery, deceit, and hope… Stacey Rourke debuts a new series with Veiled, and if this first installment is any indication of how the series will be…it’s gonna be one hell of a ride! Veiled begins with hope that quickly descends into darkness, with an unimaginable betrayal that leaves a trail of bloodshed, violence, and death in its wake. One life ends, only to bring the birth of a brand new legacy. The storyline is absolutely incredible, unique in so many ways and a refreshing take on the vampire legend. The execution of the storyline is just as distinctive, taking the reader back and forth in time to get you to the present. It is easy to follow, and keeps you on the edge of your seat from one page to the next. I will admit that there were a few times I was a bit confused, or lost track of where we were supposed to be, but it only lasted a short time before I was back in the game. The characters were engaging, creative, relatable, and pretty authentic. I would have liked to actually get to know them a bit more, a little more background so I could get a better feeling for them, but they were all great. If I could ask the author for anything, it would be simple…give me more! I wanted to know more about the world she built, the culture, the history, and the current state of affairs. That being said, I was completely hooked with this tale, and can’t wait to see what is coming next. Ms. Rourke is a new author to me, but I guarantee she is now on my list of authors to watch! A gripping and thought provoking vampire story Gave it 4 1/2 stars Note: This review contains NO spoilers Why am I not surprised that I enjoyed this read by Stacey Rourke!?! Hmmm... Maybe because I love how she thinks "outside the box" and creates with her own creative and historical twists to it. Ha! I think that's it! Well, it is no different with this latest story on vampires. Right!?! Vampires!?! Anyways, this isn't any ordinary vampire story. That's right! Vincenza (the main character) is no ordinary vampire. So... Where do I being without spoiling anything? So... I absolutely love Stacey's writing. The way she creates these complex characters with unique and individual personalities. And, her world building...!!! Stacey can thrust readers into the worlds she creates in just a few chapters, and then, readers are hooked! Well, I know I was...haha!!! Anyways, Veiled is absolutely a different take on vampires. Stacey took very real issues and gave it a paranormal twist to it. And, we all know how politics can be a touchy issue... Haha! Moreover, the story takes Vincenza's tragedy and made it into a driving force to uncover secrets and the truth behind all the vampire political propaganda. This first book in this new series introduces readers to this world where vampires exists and the dark and dangerous line that humans walk either glamorizing them or exposing them for what they really are. The flow and pace of the story takes readers to the past and present of Vincenza's journey of becoming an unstoppable weapon. Although moving back and forth from past and present can be confusing, Stacey cleverly writes it in a way that isn't too difficult... That is if you are paying attention. Sometimes, I had to go back and forth with the chapters to get my bearing on the story. Yup! Veiled is an engrossing read in which once can't just breeze through it. This is a thought-provoking and a gripping read. Of course, although Stacey incorporates some history, this is definitely not a retelling in any way. I do enjoy reading tidbits of history thrown in. All in all, Veiled is no ordinary vampire story. It is anything but ordinary! There are complexities to the characters and settings that make this a captivating read with a splash of history and realism. This is an incredibly thrilling introduction to Stacey's world of vampires...haha!!! Can't wait til the next book! So... Stacey, when can we expect the next book?!?!

I was so excited to be able to read a copy of Veiled. The beginning and its intense description hooked me immediately and made me yearn to read faster and learn more. Vincenza was a force to be reckoned with and for very good reason. Chapter 2 was written with brilliant and brutal perfection. The witty banter found throughout this book was flawlessly done and hilarious. I loved the ties to Vlad the Impaler and how his history was sprinkled through the story. It really appealed to the history-lover in me. The charaters were so deep and well-written. I loved reading their interactions. Vinx and Micah had terrific chemistry. The deeper I got into the story, the more enjoyed the twists and turns of Vinx's world. I loved the complexity of this story. It was terrific and the way the plot weaved its way along causes and effects was impressive. I actually really enjoyed the unique way the storyline jumped from cause and effect. I didn't find it hard to follow and really liked the way that the story fell into place in this interesting way. All of these snippets helped illuminate the bigger picture one scene at a time. Chapter 18 was incredibly shocking and made me so eager to see what would happen next and how this would change the course of things. As events raced to a conclusion, I could barely read fast enough. I absolutely loved Veiled and that ending totally has me on the edge of my seat awaiting the next installment. Once again Rourke told an absolutely brilliant story and hooked me completely with her amazing characters and incredibly unique tale weaving fiction and a little bit of history together. I'm not even a huge fan of Vampire books, but if they could all be like Veiled, I would consider myself converted.
