My review from inkwellreviews.com (Christian book review site) When I saw this book was coming out I was really excited on what Lisa Harris had to bring to the table. I had read her first series and was not that impressed. (exception to the third book, that one was worth the read.) The first thing I want to touch base on is that it is a trilogy, meaning it leaves you craving for the next book and has the same main characters. Now, I have read many books in my day and have read VERY few that can pull this style off. In most of them it felt like it was dragging on and on without resolution. Vendetta did not fall in this category. I had never read a book in which it flowed so smoothly into the next one. I felt closure at the end but it still, like I said, left me craving for the next book. Or in my case, marking it on the calendar when the next one was going to be released. I was very impressed with that area. As far as character devolvement, terrible. Let me explain. Lisa Harris has to fit plot and character development, good pace, romance etc. in a book that is only two-hundred and eighty-eighty pages when a normal suspense novel is about three-hundred and fifty. So in some respects she had to cram. Which is not bad, but does not leave room for things such as getting to know the character in detail. Also, Nikki’s relationship with God always seemed about herself. Instead of relying on God to help her persevere through the difficult time, it always seemed centered around her. Maybe that’s not what Lisa Harris was trying to convey, it’s just the impression I got. Another thing that stood out to me was the pace. I don't know about you but I love a good “buckle-down-because-this-book-is-not-stopping-until-the-end" kind of book. I found myself not wanting to put it down. A whirlwind of excitement. To sum it all up I think it was definitely worth the read. If you like your books to be very detailed and thorough this would not be my first suggestion. But I still think, no matter your genre of books you should give it a try. Hope you found this helpful.

Lots of action; lots of twists and turns. Don't read this book if you plan on sleeping any time soon. This is the first Lisa Harris book I've read. B&N had it on sale, and I took a chance. She's now on my favorite author's list; right up there with Hannon, Henderson, Eason, and Blackstock. I like to try and solve the mystery before I get to the end. I had the bad guy all picked out and Harris pulled the run from under me. I didn't see it coming. I'm now reading the next book in this series, and it's even more intense, but that's the subject for another review. Good work Lisa! Keep 'em coming.

Deb’s Dozen: Nikki Boyd’s Search for Her Sister’s Kidnapper is Over—Or Is It? Special Agent Nikki Boyd and her best friend’s husband, Tyler, are rappelling down cliffs to remember Katie on the first anniversary of her death. Nikki carries the guilt of thinking she could have somehow prevented her sister’s kidnapping many years before, and Tyler feels guilty for Katie’s death while they were out on their boat—he should have been above deck with her instead of below. After a near miss on the rocks, they’re just starting to relax when Nikki is called in on a case of a missing teenager. She’s never far away from Sarah’s kidnapping in her mind, and this new case brings everything back. Tyler volunteers to help and they’re off into the Smoky Mountains searching for the missing girl. Their first clue is a Polaroid picture of Bridget—left for them to find—just like the Polaroid left of Sarah all those years ago. Is the Angel Abductor back? They pour through all the documentation of the Angel Abductor cases—frantically looking for something they may have missed. In the meantime, the villain is taunting Nikki, causing her to doubt her abilities to be effective on the case. Tyler, steady and strong, is with her every step of the way. Vendetta is a twisty, turny, macabre story with surprises (including a black bear) around every tree. If the criminal one of them? How does he know so much about what they’re doing? And how does he know so much about all of their pasts? I loved the book so much; I kept stopping reading, so the pleasure of the chase would last longer. Like a Bad Penny... One year ago, Nikki's best friend, Katie, died. Today, Nikki along with Katie's husband Tyler, are going to mark this day doing what Katie loved best, enjoying the outdoors. Hopefully, this will help the two of them close the door on the intensive grief they have experienced the last twelve months. However, their day had just gotten started when Nikki, a member of the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force, gets an emergency call. A sixteen-year-old girl, Bridget, is missing. Since this is Nikki's area of expertise, her boss would like her to meet with Bridget's family as soon as possible. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death... Ten years earlier, Nikki's sister Sarah, disappeared, one of a series of victims abducted by a serial killer the media dubbed, "The Angel Abductor." Her sister was the fifth of six girls that were eventually taken. Despite a herculean effort, no trace of Sarah has ever been found. Nikki has never given up hope of finding her sister, nor has she ever gotten rid of the guilt of she feels for Sarah's disappearance. This one-time school teacher changed her career, and went to the police academy. She wanted to devote herself to continuing the search for her sister, and to help other people who have found themselves in this same nightmare. I will fear no evil. All these years later, the Angel Abductor seems to be back, and to be responsible for Bridget's abduction. Now he is using updated methods, and has been stalking her. This grown man connected with Bridget on social media, and has been chatting with her for a couple of months. Posing as a teenage boy, with fake pictures of himself, he had convinced Bridget he was her best friend, and they should meet. The few leads they have seem to point to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, as the place Bridget is being held. However, this is an area of thousands of acres of uncharted wilderness. But is this even the correct place, or just another dead end? Time is of the essence because the first forty-eight hours are the most important in cases like this. Will Nikki be able to track this man down and save Bridget? And will she finally get the answers to her sister's abduction? Vendetta is the first book in the Nikki Boyd Files, stands on its own, and is told from a Christian viewpoint. This is a fast-paced suspenseful novel, that had a surprising twist towards the end, and will keep readers on the edge of their seats. I recommend this 5-star book to those who enjoy thrilling, real-life story lines. The publisher has provided me with a complimentary copy of Vendetta through Revell Publishing for the purpose of review. All opinions expressed are my own, and I was not required, or influenced, to give anything but an honest appraisal. Despite my receiving the book free, it has not influenced my judgment.

We’re told not to take our work home with us, but for Special Agent, Nikki Boyd, it was her personal life that drove her to become a member of the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force. Her own sister was abducted ten years ago, the case unsolved, and the person responsible never apprehended. She vowed not only to find her sister but also help stop other families from going through the gut-wrenching pain hers had gone through. Nikki is called in on her day off to investigate a missing girl near where she and a friend are rock-climbing. When a Polaroid photo of the girl is found and the similarities between this case and her sister’s begin to pile up, Nikki begins to wonder—is the Angel Abductor back after a ten-year hiatus? Driven by guilt over her sister’s abduction, Nikki pushes herself to pour over evidence that she may have missed. The abductor leaves her breadcrumbs, taunting her around every corner, but she keeps coming up with dead ends. He lures her and the team to the Smokey Mountains at the crux of a pending storm. Can she figure out the Angel Abductor’s identity and silence the ten-year guilt gnawing away at her before it’s too late? Or will her life be lost like the others? This is the first book I’ve read by Lisa Harris and I have to say I loved Vendetta! It was a fast-paced, easy read that kept me turning the pages. The characters were well-rounded and likeable. The plot moved along at a good pace and had some great twists with a few red herrings thrown in to keep you off balance. I liked the growing relationship between Nikki and Tyler. I’m anxious to see where that will go in book 2. I also loved the faith aspect woven in organically. Both Nikki and Tyler had dealt with some tragic events that can’t be fluffed off. They questioned God. Who wouldn’t? And then in the end, after Nikki goes through what she does (I won’t spoil it for you), she realizes that she can’t change the circumstance. She says, “Sometimes all you can do is hold on for dear life and pray that God will help you find a way through the storm. Sometimes he shows you a way to escape, and sometimes he walks through the fire with you.” She discovers that nothing changes who God is. Amen. He’s always there for us . . . in every storm. I give Vendetta 4 stars. This is one romantic suspense you’ll want on your shelf! **Book has been provided courtesy of Baker Publishing Group and Graf-Martin Communications, Inc. in exchange for my honest review.

I am forever finding new series to add to my extremely long to-be-read list. And I am forever reminding myself after reading the first book of just such a series that I am NOT one to wait patiently when the second book isn’t readily available. I usually kick myself for starting series I can’t finish, and although Vendetta didn’t end off on a major cliffhanger (thank goodness), I am still sitting here regretting my decision to start this one…because I want need more Nikki Boyd Files now! Nikki Boyd’s past still haunts her to this day. Her life, family, career- everything changed the day her sister Sarah was taken ten years ago. Now she’s a special agent with the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force and finds people for a living, never giving up hope that one day she might also discover what happened to her sister. And experience combined with hard work has made Nikki exceptionally good at her job. On her day off work, Nikki goes rock climbing with her good friend Tyler to honor her best friend’s (and his wife’s) memory. The day ends drastically different than she imagined when she gets a call that a girl has gone missing in her near vicinity. She takes the case, and ex-military Tyler pitches in as well. The case quickly becomes very personal when Nikki discovers links to her sister’s cold case. Could the Angel Abductor be back? Or is it just some sick copycat playing with her head? Find out as things go from bad to worse in this cat-and-mouse game with a killer. I really liked this book. The action drew me in right away, and every time I put Vendetta down I was itching to get my hands back on it again. Nikki is a solid main character, even though I didn’t connect with her immediately I was still intrigued enough with her character and past to give her a shot. And while at first I was confused about her relationship with her dead best friend’s husband (man, is that messy) let me just say, I am totally on Team Tyler now you guys! He was the PERFECT “hero” of the story, if you want to call him that. Bonus- the plot twists weren’t at all cliche or predictable. I was delightfully surprised to find myself actually shocked at some points, even tense from the suspense. It would really make a great action movie. I don’t want to give anything away, so all I have left to say is that if you enjoy suspense thrillers and budding romance then this is the series for you. It’s one of those series that even though it features a different case each book, it still has an underlying story that connects each one and makes it hard to wait. So if you’re like me and have a hard time getting over a book you start to absolutely adore, maybe you should hold off on this one. Because I am absolutely attached and miserably waiting for spring 2016 to come along so I can get more from Nikki Boyd and the team!! *I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. My sincerest apologies to the publisher and author for my tardiness. http://www.willbakeforbooks.com/2015/11/review-vendetta-lisa-harris/

This is an action-packed suspenseful book. I was almost halfway through the book and the story was just getting to the second day. Admittedly there was a considerable amount of background information on what drove Nikki, the heroine, to keep pressing forward to find the missing girl. The hero, her friend Tyler, also had a story that was interwoven with Nikki’s. Tyler’s deceased wife and Nikki had been best friends since college and they had all shared some great times together through the ensuing years. Tyler was practically like a big brother to her. As the story begins, Tyler and Nikki are found in the mountains of northeast Tennessee rappelling and climbing to celebrate the life of Tyler’s wife. This was just one of the outdoor activities they had all enjoyed doing together before his wife’s death. Everything suddenly changes when Nikki gets a call from her boss about a teenage girl who has gone missing not far from where she and Tyler are. From there the story takes off at a fast and furious pace as they work with others to find the missing girl. Much of the action takes place in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Having been there myself, it was very easy to track with the story, although I have never hiked any of the trails there. I have a little thing about not wanting to encounter such magnificent creatures as black bears out in their natural habitat. There was an encounter with a black bear to add to the suspense but I have to say that there were worse things for them to handle than black bears. This was one of those books that I did not want to put down. I recommend you read it as well as any other books by Lisa Harris that you can get your hands on.

DO. NOT. MISS. VENDETTA. I've been looking forward to reading Vendetta for months. I got hooked on Lisa Harris's writing with her Southern Crimes series so I was pretty excited when I heard that she was starting a new series. It so did NOT disappoint! Vendetta is filled with Lisa Harris's trademark danger, romance, and nail-biting suspense. I had good intentions in being a good girl and finishing the books I was reading before starting Vendetta, I really did. Hah! It was only a matter of hours before I had that lovely dramatic cover open and I was right there with Nikki, desperately trying to figure out the killer before it was too late. Lisa Harris's newest book is a must read and I am eagerly awaiting book 2 in this thrilling series. (I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.)

This book should come with a warning: Do not begin to read unless you have time to finish it! I made the mistake of starting Vendetta in the late afternoon. I did put it down to go to bed, but woke to finish it in the wee hours of the morning. How’s this for an opening line? The initial step off the sheer face of a three-hundred-plus-foot drop was always the most terrifying. I was hooked. Heroine Nikki Boyd and I have almost nothing in common, and yet through the skillful writing of author Lisa Harris, I entered her life—and her danger. Nikki is haunted by her sister’s abduction, and that loss pushes her to seek rescue and justice for other abductees, no matter the personal cost. The suspense holds tight, and the mystery of the perp’s identity kept me guessing right to the end. I was offered a copy of this book by the publisher and Graf-Martin Communications in return for my honest opinion. Vendetta earns five stars and is highly recommended for anyone who enjoys well-written suspense.

Vendetta is the first book in a new series, The Nikki Boyd Files, by Lisa Harris. As I have said about every other book I have read by her, this is a must-read! I was hooked from the very beginning and I couldn't put it down! Nikki Boyd works for the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force and is called in to help find a teenager who has gone missing in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. As Nikki investigates this case, there are more and more parallels to her own sisters unsolved disappearance ten years earlier. Has her sister's kidnapper returned, is it a copycat, or just coincidence? If you are looking for a novel with great characters and one that will keep you on the edge of your seat with just the right amount of romance, this is the book for you!!! Book Two in this series comes out next summer. I can't wait!!!!!! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I started reading it while on our family vacation, but you know how family vacations are. You think you are going to get so much read, but in the end the fellowship draws you and you can't do both. I have to say though, don't read this book if you are vacationing in the Smokey Mountains! 'Nough said! Nikki Boyd is an agent on the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force, driven by the fact that her own sister came up missing ten years prior. Nikki has been searching for years, memorizing every detail of the files and each abductor, hoping that one day she will find her sister's abductor. Within just the first few chapters, Nikki is assigned to a new task. A young girl has gone missing and Nikki knows she doesn't have much time. The emotional ties to the case threaten to destroy her. And no one expects what is about to happen next. Could this be her sister's killer? Will she finally have the answers she has searched for? The story kept a steady fast pace. Lisa has a talent for suspense and mystery. The end kind of threw me a bit, as I didn't expect the twist that came. I did however kind of pin the perpetrator before he was actually revealed, but honestly it could have been a number of characters. I enjoyed the underlying faith theme. It was there, but not overly discussed. At one point however, Nikki and Tyler (her close friend) have a discussion about how the tragedies in their lives affected their faith and how they view God. Both Nikki and Tyler have experienced loss. That loss has developed a bond between them. There are some subtle romantic undertones, but the book is not full of mushy romance, and I like that! I am more for reality, a slow blossoming love, than a rush of feelings and head over heels type stuff. If you enjoy a good mystery, I am sure you will enjoy this book! I have read several other books Lisa has written and enjoyed them all! This book ends well, but also leaves the doors open for blossoming love and another case. Can't wait to read the next book in the Nikki Boyd Files. I was blessed with this book by the Revell blogging program in exchange for my honest opinion.

Vendetta is the first book in a proposed series focusing on Nikki Boyd, a Missing Persons Task Force detective. The premise of the novel was gritty and I truly enjoyed this book; granted, with a few reservations. Be that as it may, however, Vendetta is undeniably entertaining and a competent mystery novel ― I liked it! ___________________________________________ WHAT I LIKED: + The plot kept me guessing and the revelation of the antagonist was a surprise to me! I confess that I particularly enjoyed the modern angle to the plot most. In brief, it uncovered the hidden dangers of social media and further stressed the importance of truly engaging with our children and ensuring we monitor their internet usage as they interact with real-life friends and the world. The perspective was thought-provoking and this topic was what kept me reading + The world-building and details that painted this story was actually quite brilliant. Notably, the logic and sense of reasoning used around the investigative process. I commend Lisa Harris for her extensive research in the investigative police force and the stunning Smoky Mountains Park. Frankly, I feel I learned more about the Missing Persons Task Force than I would have thought possible + There’s enough character development and back story to make the characters come to life. Nikki Boyd is a perfectly imperfect character –her emotionally trepidation and internal struggle was interesting to me and I admired how she remained determined and steadfast despite her qualms. Readers who have experienced some sort of loss will be able to relate to her immensely. Furthermore, the supporting characters were just as amusing – Jack, in particular, who strangely reminded me of Enigma, The Riddler, but then again, this notion could simply lend itself to my recent fetish with the television show Gotham WHAT I DIDN’T LIKED: - Vendetta started strong, I found the mysterious intrigue appealing and I was fully engaged; however, as the storyline moved forward a few niggling details swayed my interest. The main amongst them was the romance in the novel ― in short, it felt a bit disjointed (view spoiler) It’s deeply perplexing to say the least, and seeing how this will be a series, I would have preferred a slow romantic build instead - Further, while the mystery was well plotted, it wasn’t as suspenseful and heart-pounding as I had anticipated. On one hand, I was engaged in all the twists and turns and gripping chapter endings. On the other hand, it just felt as though the impending dangers and escalating tensions lacked the anticipation to keep me 100% engaged; thus, as a result, it seemed to take forever to read this novel and it wasn’t as absorbing as I had hoped. Moreover, I found most of the crime scenes to be a little too convenient in my opinion; especially the ending which felt incredibly rushed AFTERTHOUGHTS: Don’t get me wrong, Vendetta is a good story, the integrity of the mystery lasted throughout the novel and the plot elements were effortlessly brought together in the end. I just would have preferred a bit more climatic suspense and apprehension in the reading of this novel

Nutshell: This is book one in the Nikki Boyd Files series. Nikki Boyd is in charge of her first case on the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force. A teenage girl has come up missing after leaving her cabin to go on a walk. When Detective Boyd finds out she had been chatting on-line with a boy of whom she was secretly going to meet, and that boy wasn't who he says he was, the case takes on the form of an abduction. When clues start surfacing that mimic the abduction of her still-missing sister from 10 years ago, Nikki's mission now becomes personal. Will this case lead her to the answers she has been searching for surrounding her missing sister? Pro's: I enjoyed how the author kept you guessing throughout this book. It made it that much more appealing to read all the way to the end. It wasn't excessively over-the-top bloody and gory which is nice, especially if you're reading before going to sleep! Good plot and story-line. Con's: Even though this was the first book in the series, I felt like I should've known who the main characters were. They way they were introduced throughout the book left me a little puzzled as to where they came from. It took a bit in to the book to learn back stories before feeling like they all made sense in my head. Recommendation: If you enjoy mystery suspense, then you may enjoy this book. I've enjoyed previous books by Lisa Harris and you may as well if you like this book. Revell Books sent me a complimentary copy to review for them. Opinions expressed are mine alone.

This book was packed with suspense! It had me guessing all of the way through it and on pins and needles to find out if Nikki Boyd would be able to find the missing girl and information about her missing sister. Vendetta really kept my attention from start to finish. It was a hard book to set down because it seemed that there was always a new trail to follow and a new clue to track down. It dealt with a lot of emotions, too. Nikki Boyd has a lot of guilt wrapped up in her sister’s disappearance, which occured ten years earlier. I couldn’t help but feel for Nikki and wanted her to get some resolution. I really enjoyed the hint of romance that flowed through the ending of this story. There is the possibility of a future relationship and I am excited to see how that turns out. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a fantastic romantic suspense novel! I thoroughly enjoyed both Nikki Boyd and Tyler Grant from the very beginning of the book. They are each dealing with grief and trying to figure out how to deal with that while continuing with all that they have to do to carry on with life. They have a fairly long term friendship already and they are able to work together as sounding boards for each other through this process. A couple of issues they discuss are blaming themselves and holding onto their belief in God. The main storyline is the abduction of a teenage girl and trying to solve the case. It is very well crafted with lots of twists and turns in it. We are left guessing until very late in the book. Then when the perpetrator is revealed the suspense doesn’t end right away. We still have to wait to see how he is caught and the finding of the missing girl. There were a couple of points that the repetition about Sarah’s abduction in the past pushed the limits. Sometimes it didn’t give additional information about it and just repeated what had been said before. This didn’t detract from the story for me so I haven’t let it affect my star rating. I’m really looking forward to seeing what comes for Nikki in the rest of this series. Too bad I have to wait for Lisa Harris to write those books. I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.

Suspense at its best... Vendetta The Nikki Boyd Files #1 By Lisa Harris The First 48 hours are the most critical... It was suppose to be a day remembering her best friend. But their plans quickly changed with the report of a missing teen. In a case that takes a too close to personal familiarity Special Agent Nikki Boyd is in a race the clock to locate a missing teen. Is she looking at an abduction, a run-away, or a lost teenager? As the clues point to a link from Nikki's own past, a new sense of urgency adds to the tension. If you want suspense look no further than Vendetta. Nikki Boyd is a woman on a mission - she's determined that no other family will have to go through what her's has. A 16 year old girl has gone missing and Nikki and her friend Tyler Grant happen to be in the vicinity when the initial report comes in. But what was originally a missing person quickly becomes something bigger and potentially more dangerous. Are you ready for a new series that will keep you in suspense wondering who the abductor is and whether or not they can find Bridget in time? This fast paced book takes place over just a couple of days bringing the reader into the action. And an unexpected twist puts everyone in danger. I really was drawn into this book - finishing it on a Saturday afternoon. I have to admit I'm looking forward to the second book in this series (of which there is a short excerpt) and what comes next for Nikki. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Vendetta, I believe, is the best Lisa Harris book I have read so far. I have always enjoyed her books, but this particular story just sucked me in and would not let me go till I got to the conclusion of this tension filled story. Wow. First off, this is a great warning to parents to really monitor what your kids are doing on the internet. Especially with the popular social sites and their own cell phones; there was some really eye opening and scary stuff happening along those lines. Nikki Boyd, a member of the Tennessee Missing Person Task Force, is called in to investigate a missing person’s case involving a young girl. However, this case begins to take a personal turn and brings up questions of what happened to Nikki’s own sister who disappeared ten years ago. This story takes the reader through many emotions and the biggest ones is fear and what ifs. I look forward to the next in the series as there was the beginnings of a romance that looks like we the reader get to watch slowly develop. I have a feeling it will be swoon worthy. I am really looking forward to seeing where Ms. Harris takes Nikki and her team especially after reading the sneak peek to the second in the series. I received a copy for an honest review and the opinions are my own.

Wow! What an awesome page turner. I fell in love with Nikki Boyd and can't wait to read more of her in future books. This is heart stopping suspense at its finest. In addition to it being well written, I loved the inspirational thread through out. One of my favorite quotes from the book is "Sometime there truly is nothing you can do to change your circumstances. Sometimes all you can do is hold on for dear life and pray that God will help you find a way through the storm..." I was given a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This is Book One in the author's new series, The Nikki Boyd Files, and I'm already looking forward to reading the next installment (scheduled for release in the summer of 2016). We are introduced to Special Agent Nikki Boyd and her job on the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force as she is enjoying a day off from her job. As if her job is not harrowing enough, her hobby of rappelling draws us right into the action when she has a few anxious moments on a sandstone cliff with a rope malfunction. Nikki is called in to work on a missing persons case involving a sixteen year old girl who meets with a man she met online--or the man she believes she has been connecting with online. The case is like a roller coaster ride with many highs and lows. There are lots of plot twists, turns, and red herrings in this highs and lows. There are lots of plot twists, turns, and red herrings in this story--elements I appreciate as a reader. I never knew what was going to come up next for the heroine. I liked the main character because she was strong and knowledgeable when it came to doing her job, yet she was vulnerable and sensitive when it came to the decade-long search for her missing sixteen year old sister, Sarah. Nikki was smart and resourceful, yet she was not perfect. The setting for the story is a park in the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. The author includes information about the Appalachian Trail, hiking, and camping which enriched the storyline and made it come to life for me. Lots of action and a hint of a possible romance made this one of my favorite reads of this year. I highly recommend this book for fans of clean fiction, suspense, thrillers, mystery, and romantic suspense. Lisa Harris in her new book “Vendetta” Book One in The Nikki Boyd Files series published by Revell Books introduces us to Nikki Boyd. From the back cover: The first 48 hours are the most crucial… No one needs to push Nikki Boyd to excel on the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force. The case of her own missing sister, still unsolved after ten years, is the driving force in her work. When a Polaroid photo of a missing girl shows up at a crime scene, Nikki quickly recognizes similarities to the past. The closer she gets to the abductor, the more she feels this case has become personal, and she is not the hunter . . . but the hunted. With this explosive first book in The Nikki Boyd Files, award-winning author Lisa Harris takes you on a fast-paced pursuit of justice that will have you holding your breath until the heart-stopping finish. This is the first book in The Nikki Boyd Files series and I think Ms. Harris has given us an incredible character in Nikki Boyd. She is a driven member of the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force because she has been unable to solve what happened to her own sister. Plus I have never been a part of the Tennessee Police force up until now. It is an interesting experience. “Vendetta” reads somewhat similar, to me at least, to the old movie serials. Nikki gets a clue, gets into trouble, out of trouble, another clue, in trouble, out of trouble. All the while the clock is ticking on the missing girl. With “Vendetta” Ms. Harris has given us a thriller that becomes more and more exciting and nerve-wracking until you flip the last page and let out a contented sigh of relief. This is a fun read, it is a fast read, however I do not recommend starting this book late at night because, as this is high-octane suspense it will cost you sleep as you will not want to put it down. Ms. Harris is an excellent writer and knows how to twist your nerve endings as she tightens the suspense. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series. This was very good. It was so fast paced. I could not put this down. I love Nikki and look forward to reading more of her stories. Will she find her true love. Nikki is rock climbing with her best friend Tyler when she gets a call to check out a possible missing person since that is her job. Tyler comes to help with the searching. There are many twists and turns. I received a copy of this book from Revell reads for a fair and honest opinion.

I love to read a good crime drama. And I've come to love the work of Lisa Harris. I've had the pleasure of reading several of her novels and enjoyed each one of them. Unfortunately Vendetta just didn't click with me. It had all of the usual elements that I like, independent and strong lead female, interesting setting, and a heart-pumping situation. In fact it started off really good. But around chapter 5 or 6 it started to become a bit disjointed to me. Without spoiling the story I can't share specifics but I'm going to say that I think it was the actions of the characters that didn't fit their backgrounds that seemed off. Was it a good story, yes. Will I read the rest of the series, yes. I really do like Lisa Harris' work and that may be the problem. After reading so many of her books I may have set an unfair standard for this one. I think that if I weren't familiar with her work I may have just chalked this one up to not being my cup of tea. It is my hope that the following books in the series will draw me in and help me to connect with the characters in a better way. There is an excerpt from book two in the back of this book and after reading it I am intrigued to read more. It comes out next summer so I guess we'll just patiently wait and see. I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

Lisa Harris owes me two almost-sleepless nights as I raced through the story, Vendetta. This Christian suspense novel has a touch of romance but the story is packed full of action. The story exploded on the first page and just kept going until the end. Each time I read “just to the end of the chapter” I found myself going on for “just one more page”. This is the first of Lisa’s new series, The Nikki Boyd Files, and I can’t wait for the next book to come out. Vendetta introduces Nikki Boyd, who is an agent on the Missing Person Task Force in Tennessee. Ten years before the story commences, her sister was abducted and was never found, hence Nikki’s decision to join the force. For ten years, she has followed every lead and studied every clue in her sister’s file to no avail. Now she is tasked with investigating another missing young girl. It doesn’t take long before she recognises the M.O. of the Angel Abductor, the one who stole her young sister from her. Tyler, the husband of her deceased best friend, joins her in a furious race to find the abductor and rescue the young girl. Although there is a developing romance in the story, it was good that the book concentrated on the abduction and the search, and as a result ends on a definite “need-the-next-one” feel. Thank you to Revell Reads for giving me this book for an unbiased review.

I really enjoyed Lisa’s previous series so I was very excited to read this new one. I will say the first couple of chapters didn’t really grab me but then…I was hooked and I didn’t want to put the book down. Chapter after chapter of new twists, turns and dangers. The stakes constantly being raised. And the personal connection Nikki has with the case she is working on will have you sitting at the edge of your seat and up way past your bedtime. Lisa is a wonderful storyteller and this newest book will not disappoint. A copy of this book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
