Patrick O’Brian left us much too early AND with many Jack Aubrey stories yet to be told. I pray for Mr. Cornwell’s continued good health — as well as that of Lord Uhtred Ragnarson.

The book was a very good read and followed the previous books in the series very well. I did not feel there was as much action as in previous books.

This rating is not for the book itself, but for the printing quality of the hardcover book. I was dismayed to find that the copy I purchased online and the other copies in our local store have printing issues; specifically, the pages are cut extremely unevenly on the ends and not cleanly. This is definitely a "first world problem," but I expect quality in a hardcover book (and refuse to buy paperback books anymore as they fall apart while I am still reading them for the first time). I'm hoping that this was just a specific lot of the book, and that I will be able to purchase a quality hardcover copy in the future. Otherwise, I will just be borrowing it from my library instead of getting my own copy.

These are just my types of books maybe a bit formulaic but who cares entertaining and I love the time period.

Another in the long line of exciting tales illuminating a little known period of English history.

The continuing tale of Uhtred is everything you expect from Bernard Cornwell. This one is somewhat abbreviated in comparison to the earlier novels, but it's fast, action-packed pace will keep you engaged and turning pages.

I finished the book in 3 days, could not put it down. A great novel, get past the Christian bashing and enjoy the story, as always will keep you at the edge of your seat.
