I really love Locker's work, and this is a great example of his combination picture book/nonfiction work for children. The illustrations are magnificent.

Rating 5 This is a very rhythmic and lyrical book that will please readers of all ages, especially the little ones. It the story full of art, poetry, nature and science all combined into a dance about our water cycle. The oil painting illustrations are luscious to the eye and the story itself is poetically pleasant to the ear. This is truly a water dance. It is told in the first person...water, beginning with rain and ending with a rainbow. “I am one thing. I am many things. I am water. This is my dance through the world”

I purchased this book for my Grandson, but found that it's a favorite for the adults as well. The illustrations are amazing --- it's a book you want to pull out and read and look at over and over again!

This book is just great to use as an example of 'word choice' in literature. It may also be used for the trait of 'ideas'.

Great book for teaching the water cycle. It goes through all the different forms of water we have on the earth and gives an explanation about each one in the index. You also read it in poetry form.
