Revisit all of your Kowalski favorites while falling in love with a brand-new romance in this reunion novel from New York Times bestselling author Shannon Stacey

Laney Caswell is looking for a change. A decade's worth of less-than-happy matrimony behind her, she wants peace—movies, books and, best of all, a new job at the Northern Star Lodge in Whitford, Maine. Spending the summer living in a camper is her chance to rediscover what makes her happy, and a perfect transition to her new life.

Being a paramedic in Whitford is nothing like Ben Rivers's city life, but when Josh Kowalski offers him the job, the lure of his hometown is too much to resist. Also too much to resist: Laney Caswell. Ben always thought he'd have a wife and kids, a happy family like the Kowalskis have all built, but he never made time in his life. Now he's found a woman who draws him like no other and helps him dream again—and the last thing she wants is a husband.

When the annual Kowalski family camping trip is moved to the Northern Star, both Ben and Laney are surrounded by the kind of happiness they've always wanted but never had. It just might be theirs—if they can put aside the past and reach for it together.

I was super excited to get a Kowalski vacation of doom. The Kowalski family series is one of my favorite ever. I loved getting to spend time with the entire family, and seeing how the family has grown since the last book. I will say if you haven't read the rest of the series, you will be lost with all the family dynamics if you try and start with this story. I highly suggest starting with the first book in the series, Exclusively Yours. With all the members of the Kowalski clan in one book, there was lots going on and I'll admit it was hard to keep up with the growing family at times, but I loved every minute with them. What It Takes also had a budding romance between Laney and Ben. While I liked both Laney and Ben as individuals, I had trouble with them as a couple for most of the book. Ben and Laney didn't seem to be on the same page to start a relationship. Laney had just ended her marriage and not ready for anything serious, while Ben was at the point in his life that he was ready for a serious relationship. I thought Laney and Ben had great chemistry, but had trouble buying into them as a couple for the majority of the book. I did love that Laney received immediate acceptance into the Kowalski family, which was so nice as her own parents didn't support her decision to divorce her ex-husband. I also loved that Ben's family also accepted Laney so quickly. I did end up liking Ben and Laney as a couple by the end of the book. I think since there was so much focus on the Kowalski family, their story took a bit of a backseat at times and it took me until about the last 20% of the story to really become invested in their relationship. Rating: 3.5 Stars (B-)

It was fun to see everybody all together again... And to remember their stories. Meanwhile, following along witha new couple. Dirty scrabble still makes me laugh!

This book was a sweet romance for Ben and Laney. Ben moves back to Whitford to be a paramedic . Laney moves there to take a seasonal job after a divorce . There was an immediate attraction between the two. The struggles to the two are going through make for a great story. Love the whole clan and reading of their camping trips together .

I always love camping with the Kowalski family and in What It Takes by Shannon Stacey, it was great fun to see it from an outsider’s view. Laney is the newest heroine of the series, recently hired by the Northern Star Lodge to help out around the new campground and assist Rosie in taking care of the lodge. She is also fresh off a divorce and trying to find herself this summer. Ben, the local paramedic and best friends to Sean Kowalski (Yours To Keep) ends up spending a lot of time around the campground and lodge this summer. While the romance between Laney and Ben was not my favorite of the series, it’s was still an entertaining read and fantastic by contemporary romance standards. This romance starts out slowly and while the book moves along at a great pace, I was frustrated with Laney putting the breaks on the relationship so much. I adored Ben and how he handled it though. He is so easy going and every woman’s dream really. Stacey does a nice job writing an original romance in the midst of the annual Kowalski family camping trip. While Ben and Laney could have easily been overshadowed by the Kowalski reunion, that didn’t happen. In this story, we are also treated to a side story between Sean and Emma and their current challenge in their marriage. It’s amazing how a simple worry can cause such an emotional pull. Stacey does a fantastic job bringing all the Kowalskis back together and giving the reader to catch up with them all a little. Complete with lots of doom, post it notes, and dirty scrabble! It was so much fun! What It Takes is a great story to extend the Kowalski family stories for all those that love them. If you are new to the series, this is a fun one that will have you falling in love with the family and will make you want to go back to the very beginning of the series. It’s is a story filled with everything we love in a contemporary romance – love, family, friends, kids, sexy scenes, camping, and ATVs. Pick up your copy now, but be warned, once you start, it will be hard to put it down until the every end.

So excited for another Kowalski book! And I wasn't disappointed. It was great to revisit Whitford, Maine, again. I loved the storyline with two new, likeable characters, Ben and Laney! And it was fun to see what was going on with all the Kowalskis since the last book. While this is a stand-alone book, I recommend reading the series in order to get to know each character chronologically. I highly recommend this book to Kowalski lovers, Maine lovers, and romance lovers alike!

When I found out there was a Kowalski Family reunion book coming out I was doing cartwheels (well in my head anyway)!! I'm happy to say that Shannon Stacey did not disappoint! This is truly one of my favorite fictional families and catching up with all the characters I love was incredible. Add to that a fantastic romance between town newcomer Laney Caswell and returning local boy Ben Rivers and I was one happy reader with this one. If you haven't read the Kowalski series yet do yourself a favor and do it! If you have, you'll enjoy this one as much as I did. I definitely recommend this one either way.
