Wicked Grind by J. Kenner

Sometimes it feels so damn good to be bad

Photographer Wyatt Royce's career is on the verge of exploding. All he needs is one perfect model to be the centerpiece of his sexy, controversial show. Find her, and Wyatt is sure to have a winner.

Then Kelsey Draper walks in. Stunning. Vibrant. And far too fragile for a project like this. Wyatt should know—after all, he remembers only too well how their relationship ended all those years ago.

Desperate for cash and frustrated with her good girl persona, Kelsey sets her sights on Wyatt's show. But only the show. Because she knows too well that Wyatt Royce is a danger to her heart.

But when Wyatt agrees to give her the job only if he has complete control—on camera and in his bed—Kelsey can't help but wonder if she's in too deep. Because how can a good girl like her ever be enough for a man like Wyatt?

All Wicked novels stand alone.

This was a new author to me and be assured this will not be the last book I read. I love a second chance of love story which is what Wicked Grind is. Wyatt Royce is a photographer who career is about to take off. If and it's a big if he can find the perfect model to be the centerpiece of his sexy and controversial show. Kelsey Draper wants to change her good girl image and she believes Wyatt is the man to help her. However, these two have history together. Is Kelsey in too deep? Will Wyatt and his insistence on dominating in and out of the bedroom be too much for Kelsey, after all it was before? Will Wyatt and Kelsey be able to move on from the past? Can Wyatt forgive her for breaking his heart 12 years ago? Can he trust thar she won't run again? Can Kelsey overcome her fears and fight for the man she loves? It was obvious that neither had outgrown their love for one another. Told from dual POV's it moves between the past and present. I thoroughly enjoyed Wyatt and Kelsey's story and look forward to reading more in the series.

I can not fault J. Kenner's writing from the moment you open that book you are drawn in. I have read all her books and don't have a bad word to say about any of them. This is one of my go to authors. I can't wait for the rest of this series as I was screaming out for more. Reece, Brent and Jenna have been friends for a long time and they made a pact that none of them will date their friend Jenna, but now Reece can't hide his feelings for Jenna and what Reece doesn't know Jenna feels the same and instead of acting on them Jenna tries to push him away. I loved the chemistry between the characters, they were well developed and you were made to feel you were part of their world. Give this book a read you won't be disappointed

Talk about a story that had me filled with major anticipation, this was it. Wyatt and Kelsey have an intense story and I hung on every word waiting for them to come together. Wyatt and Kelsey’s story felt intense, raw, and it was filled with so much emotion. They were such interesting characters from different walks of life and they each had their own battles they were dealing with. There’s wonderful character development for both of them. I loved Wyatt, I totally got him, he was alluring and passionate. Now Kelsey, I liked her but she was a bit frustrating too because her biggest obstacle was herself. That moment though when she owns who she is, it's pretty awesome. Even though this had an intense feel, I thought it was light in the drama department. It's more of an emotional rollercoaster. There is a lot of passion simmering and building but I was pleasantly surprised by this slow burn happening in the story. How it was laid out and how their histories are learned made the build to the heated moments that much better. There was a really good build to the story though I felt the back half was a bit drawn out. I thought the descriptions were great and I was filled with so much anticipation because I was excited with everything I was learning and was looking forward to what would come next. The back and forth flow of their POVs was awesome. All in all, I thought this was an excellent introduction to the series and am looking forward to more! Awesome read!

Another Winner! The Stark / International and now Wicked Nights /World Series are on my top favorites! I love how Julie continues to keep us entranced and entwined in all the characters lives we've fallen in love with! This story of Wyatt, whom is introduced and continued in the original Stark Series, is one that I was curious of his story...and SO GLAD that we got it! Living with the loss of his muse and his first & only love when she ran out on him 12 years ago; trying to make a name for himself and stand on hit own merit and not the fame of his family name; and now living with the fear that she'll run again after blasting into his life once more. Kelsey, I love her! She represents and brings to life what a lot of us live with, what a lot of us grew up with and the things that our parents pounded into our heads and are now engrained in our being - whether we like it or not. Seeing Kelsey feed off of the strength that Wyatt gives her by loving her unconditionally and supporting her, gives her the strength to break free of the unseen binds that keep her locked up in her box. Exceptional story!

Once again, Julie Kenner scores 10 stars with this beautiful second chance contemporary romance. She is the most brilliant writer I have enjoyed reading...from the moment I opened the book and read the prologue I knew I would be forever enthralled. Words like "forbidden, terrifying, yet tempting" how can you not be....The one man who changed everything. Yes I knew I would be in deep! Talk about second chance romances this one is sensational...it captivates you with these characters and their chemistry its breathtaking but they have to be able to overcome their painful past or it could potential destroy them. Wyatt Royce aka Wyatt Segal is the one man who longs to be recognized for his extraordinary work as a photographer, not because of his famous grandmother and mother, he has lived in that spotlight all of his life... a man who was always surrounded by beautiful, sexy, provocative, temptress, naked and forever wanting him..... but he only had eyes for one woman.... a woman he couldn't find.... He was working on a project and was in a desperate search for "her" the one woman who would bare all of what was pure, innocent, sensual, alluring.... after going through dozens of models he was about at his wits end when "she" walked through the door to his gallery.... his past appeared the sweet beautiful woman who left him 12 years ago.... Kelsey appeared like the angel she was to him..... his life ran before him and she was just as shocked. Little did she know it was "him" Wyatt the boy she met during the summer she worked at a country club, the one she gave herself to..... and he was the one who searched for her after that night she disappeared into the night and he never saw her again until now..... the emotions, the feelings, the outbreaks of anger, hate, surprise were all brought to the surface of this amazing second chance romance. Kelsey needed the money for her brother desperately so she fought hard for the job, while Wyatt didn't know if he should worship her or punish her..... ultimately together they faced their histories, their pasts, and they recognized their love was stronger. Loved the way JK entwined, Nikki, Damien, Siobhan, and Cassidy into this story..... I'm going to really enjoy this ride into the Wicked Starks World..... A 10 STAR RATING FOR ME!

What a great second-chance love story! I'm a sucker for them! Kelsey and Wyatt fell in love as teenagers, only to be ripped apart by tragedy. Crossing paths again over a decade later, both in desperate, yet different situations, they undoubtedly need each other. They are each a means to the other's end. But the hurts from the past, and the lingering anger, probably make working together a bad idea. or is it? Can misunderstandings be explained? Can they let down the walls they've built? After all those years, the pull is strong between them. Should they ignore it, or embrace it? Loved this story and can't wait to see what's next!!

What a great start to J. Kenner's new series Stark World. Wicked Grind is a spin off from the Stark Series and in book one we meet Wyatt and Kelsey. Wyatt and Kelsey fell in love twelve years ago when they were teenagers but the timing wasn't right, meeting in secret meant hearts got broken, misunderstanding on both sides tore them apart will they be able to forgive and forget or will the feelings of anger and hate win again. Blame can sometimes be hard to overcome........ I loved both of these characters, both so very different, one is a guy who grew up in the spotlight the other is a girl who's father kept her under the thumb but somehow they complement each other if they can only leave the past in the past. I loved that we got snippets from the characters of the Stark Series but they didn't take over. Second chance romance is one of my favourite genres and this author writes a great love story which not only hooked me from the first page it kept me on the edge of my seat to the very end. Looking forward to book 2 in this series.

Wicked Grind By: J. Kenner ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Review by Kristie K Wicked Grind is a second chance romance that collides past with present, heartache with heartfelt, and sex with love… Sometimes a second chance is all it takes to paint the perfect picture, or tear down perfectly constructed walls… Wyatt Royce is an up and coming photographer in the art world, and is preparing a show that could completely knock the world off it’s axis. He has just a few weeks to prepare the final piece…the climax…the masterpiece…but his muse is no where to be found. The “it girl” he so desperately needs hasn’t shown her beautiful face yet, and he is running out of time. Kelsey Draper is in desperate need of a job. When a friend offers her a shot at a modeling contract with a local photographer, Kelsey jumped at the chance. Sweet Kelsey Draper is as innocent as the day is long, but when she walks into the studio for the audition, the past greets her with stunning clarity as the boy she once loved stands before her…all grown up, and just as gorgeous as she remembered. Wyatt is confronted with his past, his muse, and his pain when the girl he once loved walks into his studio. Past meets present as secrets are brought to light, and past hurts color the relationships of the present. Both Wyatt and Kelsey hold pieces of a puzzle that when put together will reveal the secrets of their past and the possibilities for their future. So, lets start at the top: The cover of Wicked Grind is HOT. The black, white, and red theme is stunning, and portrays the core of the storyline perfectly. The blurb gives you just enough of a taste to lure you in, and make you want more. The character development is amazing. I fell in love with both Wyatt and Kelsey from their first interaction. Kelsey is so pure of heart, innocent, and kind. Her love for her brother, and her sheltered upbringing color her every move. Wyatt is strong, but holds a genuine and soft heart within himself, and a strong desire to make his own way in the world. Both characters are damaged in their own way, with skeletons in their closet that altered their worlds. Each one of their secrets, their skeletons, their scars, bound them together and made them so much more real. The plot and storyline were not unique within the genre, but unique in their details and execution. It was sexy, sensual, emotional, and fun. J. Kenner wove emotion and pain together within the story, making the reader fell everything. Definitely another home run for J. Kenner, and a wonderful beginning to a new series! Kristie K.

If you are a lover of the Stark Series, get ready to dive into Wyatt's story. The elusive mysterious photographer. If you haven't read them, don't worry! You can still read this as a standalone. J. Kenner is truly an artist of the written word. The blank page is her canvas and the words are her paint. She never fails to leave me in awe of how she can create such a beautiful masterpiece. She always captivates me with her stories overflowing with intrigue, suspense and emotion. Her writing is engaging, a little bit unique and deeply thoughtful. For this book, I found that it lacked the usual intense heat I have come to expect. Based on the blurb I was expecting more naughty things, but his one was more of a slow burn. Of course she delivered in the end and ignited a decent sized fire, but I was getting a little desperate and antsy the way she was making me wait for it. I felt the ending was a little rushed and I felt like Kelsey and Wyatt still had places to go. I'd be happy to see an encore from them!

WICKED GRIND is the first installment in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult STARK WORLD erotic, romance series-a spin off set in the world of the author’s Stark Trilogy. This is photographer Wyatt Royce Segal, and dancer/kindergarten teacher Kelsey Draper’s story line. You do not have to have read the previous series to follow Wicked Grind. Some of the characters cross-over or are mentioned for cohesion and familiarity. Told from dual first person points of view (Wyatt and Kelsey) WICKED GRIND follows the rekindling romance between famed photographer Wyatt Royce, and dancer/teacher Kelsey Draper. Twelve years earlier a then sixteen year old Kelsey Draper fell in love with rich and seductive school boyWyatt Royce-a summer fling that ended when Kelsey disappeared from Wyatt’s life never to be heard from again. Fast forward to present day and our heroine is desperate to help someone she loves. Enter Wyatt Royce Segal who is looking for the perfect model for his presentation and feature for an erotic art showing. Kelsey needs the money, and Wyatt struggles with memories of the past-a past shrouded in betrayal and lies. Wyatt battles his need for the woman who destroyed his heart twelve years earlier. Believing our heroine betrayed his feelings, Wyatt has never moved forward in his relationships, always keeping his emotions locked down and guarded. Kelsey Draper struggles with her attraction to a man she knows despises the ground upon which she walks but there is a reason to Kelsey’s abrupt departure and her return comes at a personal price. Kelsey is desperate for money and posing for the man whose heart she broke is both a struggle and a desperate attempt to save someone she loves. The relationship between Kelsey and Wyatt is one of second chances; a rekindling romance that follows Wyatt Royce as his treatment of Kelsey Draper is less than magnanimous bordering on emotionally abusive and sexually aroused. Kelsey has never stopped loving Wyatt Segal (Royce) but twelve years of heartbreak and guilt has kept our heroine too close to home. The $ex scenes are limited but seductive and intense. We are introduced to Kelsey’s younger brother Griffin; her best friend and model Nia; Wyatt’s assistant JP, former fling Leah, Siobhan who works for Stark Entrprises, as well as Wyatt’s grandmother Anika Segel, and mother Lorelei Segal-both Hollywood royalty. The world building focuses on the rekindling romance between Kelsey and Wyatt, and Wyatt’s coldhearted treatment of the woman that broke his heart. At times, Wyatt’s attitude was abusive and mean. Both Kelsey and Wyatt’s backstories are heartbreaking-terrible losses that shaped the man and woman they would become. I did have a couple of issues with the story line: the quick resolution to a threat against Kelsey’s future, as well as the author’s use of a certain four letter word-although only used once-I felt it was unnecessary and possibly used for shock value or to place the story line into the erotic category. WICKED GRIND is a story of second chances; of betrayal and misunderstanding; of family, relationships and love. The premise is energetic; the characters are colorful and dynamic; the romance is sensual and passionate. WICKED GRIND is a seductive story line of one woman’s struggle with guilt that finds our heroine stepping out of her comfort zone to save someone she loves.

WOW!!! Simply WOW! I am rarely left without words but this book really shook me to the core. As this is a J. Kenner book, so of course I was expecting an incredible story. But Wicked Grind is so much more than that. It is a story about second chances, about survival and fighting for the things you dream about. It is about love and it's ability to give you enough strength to break the chains that keep you locked in into a mental cage of someone else's doing. It is about finding that person that makes you feel free and complete. For me, this was mostly a very emotional book. Don't get me wrong, there are quite a few hot scenes, and there is romance and heartbreak. But it is simply so much more than that. Through her whole life, Kelsey had to live with the mental abuse from a person who should have protected her. Instead, he made her pay for someone else's mistakes. With each hateful and degrading word, the cage around her was getting stronger and stronger. Until she believed that if she enjoyed life, she will ruin the people around her. Until she met Wyatt during a summer vacation. He showed her what it means to be free and to enjoy the small things in life. But then a tragedy struck and Kelsey lost herself again. Once Kelsey and Wyatt meet again 12 years later, they both carry the hurt and pain from the past. Each one of them has lived through their own tragedies and that made them close the world off. But with every second spend together, they find out that their past cannot be buried and their connection is too strong to be ignored. Of course, Kelsey and Wyatt's path is not easy but they find the way to each other's hearts again. To be honest, I am usually more of a fan of the male characters in books. And don't get me wrong, Wyatt is delicious and definitely worth it of some drooling. But Kelsey was simply extraordinary. She is strong and sensual, even if she doesn't realise it in the beginning. Living through the nightmare she lived through as a kid with all the blame she puts on herself and the verbal abuse in her everyday life, she still tries to break the figurative cage she was put into. I can honestly say that I admire her. Because her will for survival and saving her tender heart from disintegrating is simply something extraordinary. I think this is one of my favorite J. Kenner books and I definitely recommend it. In my opinion, this is a book that everyone should read. But do keep in mind that this is not a lighthearted read. It will definitely ground and make you think about the important things in life. Make you appreciate them even more. So don't waste your time and pick up your copy now. J Kenner is and has been an automatic one-click auto-buy for me. I absolutely love her Stark books in all of their permutations, and this new Stark World series is no different. I’ve been impatiently waiting for Wyatt’s book to come out, and I was not disappointed! Wyatt and Kelsey’s book is the classic example of a second chance romance, with a whole lot of “Oh my dear Lord, that man is HAWT!” Wyatt is a world famous photographer 29 days away from a show that could skyrocket his career. He’s looking for a very special girl. One who is sensuous enough, who has THAT look, that will make his exhibition what he wants. But the woman he wants is the woman he won’t touch. Kelsey is a good girl. She’s a dancer and a teacher. She’s also got a father who will do anything to be sure his little girl keeps on being a good girl. But Kelsey wants to let her bad girl out, and she remembers her days with Wyatt in the past when she could. A friend of Kelsey’s sets her up for a photo session with W. Royce, but she gets quite a surprise when the man she knew as Wyatt Siegal turns out to be her photographer. I just loved the interplay between the two of them. Kelsey needs the money for her brother, and Wyatt can’t stop forgetting the past. But Wyatt still wants her, and he wants her on his terms, and Wyatt is a sexy, dominating, take-charge kind of guy. Just so yummy! This is one of those books where J Kenner shines! She writes amazing, super sizzling sex scenes that make you sweat along with the heroine. Yeah, I’ll have one of her Stark heroes please? A 5 star super zinger all the way!

J. Kenner introduced us to the Stark books, and now she is opening it up into Stark World with Wicked Grind. I love that Wyatt gets his story heard. If you have read any of the Stark books previously with Nikki and Damien, you will remember Wyatt as Nikki's hot photographer friend. We all knew that he had some skeletons from the past, but never got into much of it until now! Wyatt is ready. He is ready to put himself out there without his family name. That is until Kelsey walks into his studio to audition to be a model in his story that has been years in the making. I love that Cass and Siobhan are more involved in this story. I love that J. Kenner gives us glimpses of previous characters, but also makes sure they do not take the spotlight away from Wyatt and Kelsey. Wicked Grind will take this second chance romance to new heights. There was some missing links from the past that will now make sense in the present. Wyatt has always been a catch, but we see a new side of him. It is time for him to shine. Not just in the sense of the story line, but just in general. You will love the wicked sexy scenes, and see the beauty in a woman's form. I loved Wicked Grind and so excited to explore Stark World a little bit more.

Title: Wicked Grind Author: J.Kenner Genre: Adult Romance Format: Ebook - ARC Pages: 320 Rating: 5 Heat: 5 Thoughts: Damn, talk about hitting close to home. I so relate to Kelsey, the voice of a parent keeping you from really living. What’s even funnier is that my husband is a photographer, not professional like Wyatt but I think he’s really good. Anyway, with the characters being so easy to relate to I absolutely could not put this down. Beautiful, I’m not sure how else to describe this story. It’s obviously an HEA but there were times that I wondered, will they find it? And I love, love, love how the other Stark World characters made an appearance but didn’t at all have anything other than a bit part. It was mostly just a “and over there is Damien and Nikki”, or “oh look, that’s Dallas over there”. Granted with Damien it was a bit more but that’s to be expected with him lol. He’s just that type of character but I love him for it. And Wyatt, just as awesome as the rest of the males in the Stark World, and just as drool worthy!! But don’t take my word for it, grab a copy now and find out for yourself! Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work and chose to write a review.

I felt for Kelsey. She feels invisible but it doesn’t help that her father is overbearing and controlling which has truly shaped how she reacts. As she works at the country club, she catches Wyatt’s eye. Wyatt comes from Hollywood royalty, he struggles with establishing his identify out of the shadow of his family members. Deep down, these two share a similar struggle with defining who they are based on their own passion and beliefs and not what their family dictates. A beautiful friendship grows into a wonderful romance until one fateful night. When they are suddenly pushed back into each other’s orbit 12 years later, this becomes a trial of finding forgiveness when you never stopped loving someone. This was not an easy road and that night was full of surprises. They both had to overcome so much over the years but as Wyatt’s career is on the verge of exploding, Kelsey is still struggling with following her true passion. Will Wyatt’s return into her life be what she needs to break free from her father’s “chains”? Dive in for this beautifully sexy and drama filled romance. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

I love Julie Kenner books and especially the Stark series . Damien and Nikki are my favorite characters and I was so glad to see them cameo in this book . This is a book about second chances , young love, to rediscover love and to forgive the past . Wyatt is the son off a famous film producer , and the grandson of a famous actress . He has changed his name so that he can become successful in his own right . He is a talented photographer who is working on an exhibition of erotic and evocative photos that tell the story of women. In walks Kelsey Draper whom Wyatt has not seen in 12 years , and he doesn't know how he feels about that . She vanished after a night of passion and he doesn't know if he wants to punish her for walking out on him or hold her and never let her go . I thoroughly enjoyed the writing in this book and I certainly felt engaged in their lives . I love it when characters from Julia's other books make cameo appearances , somehow it gives that sense of family .

4.5 stars! Wicked Grind by J. Kenner is the first book in her new series of standalone novels featuring characters from the world of Stark International. A sexy and fast-paced novel about second chances, and exposing yourself – literally and figuratively. Wyatt Segel, the grandson of famous actress Anika Segel, wanted to make a name for himself away from his family’s name or success. Under the pseudonym, Wyatt Royce, he’s about to launch his photography career with a photography project that will make headlines. He only has twenty-seven days to finish the project. He is only missing the perfect model to be the centerpiece of his show. Expecting a model from an agency to walk into his studio for an audition, he is taken back when the woman who walks in is the girl who left him twelve years ago. Kelsey Draper needs fifteen thousand dollars in less than a month and her salary as a kindergarten teacher and her job teaching dances classes won’t get her there. So when her friend Nia offers her the chance to earn quick money by stepping in for a modeling job, Kelsey is determined to get it even if it means working with a man who wants nothing to do with her since she ran away from him twelve years ago. Wyatt needs Kelsey for his project, and agrees to give her the job, but only if she gives him complete control during their photo shoots and in his bed. The cards have been laid out, but with so much still left unsaid between them, will the past continue to get in the way or will they be able to move on and get a second chance? I enjoyed Ms. Kenner’s Wicked Grind and its second-chance romance. Kelsey and Wyatt are likable characters with passionate chemistry. I also liked that Ms. Kenner let us see their romance at both ends by mixing in chapters of flashback, Kelsey and Wyatt falling in love as teenagers to when they were separated, with chapters during the present as they navigate their feelings as adults, with their guards up and worries. Kelsey flipped backed and forth a bit on her decision of doing the photoshoot one too many times for my taste, but besides that I liked her character and how she was able to overcome her fear and open herself to love and living. I also loved her relationship with her brother Griffin. I hope Griffin gets his own book and happily ever after too. Overall, Wicked Grind by J. Kenner is an entertaining novel with heart and heat that will have you caring for the characters as well as cheering for them at the end. I very much recommend and look forward to reading the next novel in this new series by J. Kenner. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book I received for free in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)

I was excited to go back into the Stark world and get Wyatt's story. Wyatt and Kelsey get a second chance at a romance Kelsey had run from 12 years ago. They had been children and now as adults, they reconnect on a photography shoot that Wyatt is doing. Kelsey is confined to a box that her father had put her in years before and Wyatt wants nothing more than to break her out. Can Kelsey truly discover who she is out of the box and what she wants? I thought this was a good second chance romance book and a great story about self discovery. Sometimes we all need to push the envelope to discover what is truly important to us. Sometimes we have to take what we want. Another good read in the Stark world!

Wicked Grind is a shining star in an already impressive cache of work. Kelsey and Wyatt quickly descend past the point of no return. The dominant photographer with the controlling ways reunites with the good girl on a quest to change her ways. It's gritty, meets sexy and creates magic. Who could ask for anything more?

Finding the courage to be yourself and succeed in life can be scary. Wyatt and Kelsey are examples of love, trust and faith going awry. Can past hurts and miscommunication be fixed? Can Kelsey finally learn to accept herself as is? Will Wyatt risk his career for love? A great Stark spin-off with humor, romance and a touch of angst. A fantastic read!
