This was a pretty cute story.  Gabe is cute in a funky, shy kind of way and Dante is a fun, wild character.  Together they seemed a little counterintuitive to me, but they just work and balance each other out – it was sweet.  The romance was good, but the overall storyline involved a LOT of hockey, which I don’t know much about or get into really, so there being so much about the hockey itself made for a bit of a slow read for me.  The love scenes were a mixture of open door and implied and were well done all around.  I LOVED the supporting characters – they were a hoot!   A couple random notes:  The book is told in third person, but all from Gabe’s point of view.  The book is deceptively long!  It looks like only a few chapters, making me think it was around 120 pages long or something, but no – it’s 280! Winging It is a fun, sweet read – especially if you like hockey!  Don’t miss out on this MM romance!

Winging It by Ashlyn Kane, Morgan James  NHL player Gabe Martin just wants to play hockey.  The last thing he expected was the drama of being outed for being gay.   Gabe is a likeable character.  He is selfless, not wanting his drama to affect his team.  He loves the game of hockey and is extremely focused on his performance.  Having never dated anyone and now in his twenties, he is pretty clueless about relationships.  He makes some dumb mistakes, but it’s not intentional.   Dante Baltierra is a Gabe’s opposite.  He’s young and wild.  He is a very amusing character, which is good for Gabe. I liked the news releases thrown in throughout the story.  They were a clever way to transition the story. I also appreciated the chirping between the players.  The entire team environment was well done and believable.   I really enjoyed this book.  Winging It is very hockey orientated and credible novel.  It was well-written and had a great flow to the story.
