When I read this author's books I know I am not reading great literature. What I do know, is inbetween some flat spots, there will be lots of laughs. So far she is the best author to totally make me forget pending issues with no chance of reality and fiction colliding.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This was such a fun read. Books about the paranormal are some of my favorites and Morgana Best makes is impossible not to fall in love with it even more. Valkyrie moves back home to live with her aunts and ends up in the middle of a mystery. When she ends up finding out that secrets run in her family what will she do when they start to come out? She meets the mysterious Lucas on the day she returns home but this man is both attractive and a pain in the butt, what happens when she fights her attraction? Thank you for allowing me to read this book and write a honest and unbiased review.

Witches Brew: Vampires and Wine Book 1 Author: Morgana Best Publisher: Independent Publishing A world of witches, vampires, and shifters brings unique issues, and Pepper Jasper doesn’t believe in any of them. Pepper moves from Sydney to the town of Lighthouse Bay, not only because her aunts beg her to help with their failing Bed and Breakfast, Mugwort Manor, but mainly because she is broke and desperate. She soon discovers her aunts are more than a little eccentric, more than she remembers from her childhood. To make matters more confusing a body literally, falls from the sky to land at her feet. Between the irritating guests which include the egotistical Lucas O’Callaghan who thinks every woman is throwing themselves at him, and her aunt's weirdness, she isn't sure which way to turn. Her aunts insist she drink large quantities of a particular wine for no apparent reason. -- Pepper, whose real name is Valkyrie appears to be in the dark about vampires, werewolves, and most paranormal entities. She learns as she goes and in many cases, pass out when she finds out that something or someone she never believed existed actually does. It's more than she can handle in most cases but she pulls herself together long enough to not only understand but enjoy much of the oddities that surround her aunts and her new life. The interaction between her and Lucas O’Callaghan is funny and a bit crazy. His belief that Pepper is throwing herself at him is ridiculous and laughable, but her physical reaction to him is something she doesn't want him to know, especially after stating that she was not in the least bit attracted to or interested in him. Solving the murder is imperative for Pepper so that she can get rid of Lucas and some unwanted attention. It takes time and along the way she learns about family secrets and answers to childhood questions. With her aunts and Lucas' help, she catches the killer in the nick of time. Morgana Best is a talented writer with a vast imagination and a way with words that will delight the reader. Her characters are far from the norm. The storyline is different from most books of this type, and the vampires and werewolves are as far from classic as a writer can get, which is also what makes them interesting. This book is a fun, fast-paced read and am looking forward to the next installment. This book is highly recommended.

Welcome to another view of reality in Australia. Ms Best has a fun new series involving witches, vampires, a rather odd bed and breakfast, a winery, and some really interesting magic. The characters are always interesting, and the tidbits of local lore and flora/fauna really add to the story! The publisher's blurb gives hints and there is no need for spoilers. There is also no erotica. Once again, the setting is not urban, and I think that's a good thing. I have enjoyed her other series, and this one looks to be just as much fun!

I found this book better than the Sookie Stackhouse books, yet similiar. Although you can tell that Miss Best is from Australia from the details she peppers throughout the book, it is easy to follow. This was a big change in the type of books I read. Easy and entertaining.

Great story and concept, but poorly written.

This book was such a chore to finish. The premise of the book was interesting and it started out well but got off-track. The book was advertised as a basic witch story but then the author added vampires, shapeshifters, werewolves, and the like. It was just too much and gave the book a really cheesy flavor. This is one of the very few series that I won't bother to even give a second chance. It purely sucked. Stephanie Clanahan

I read it. I can finish a book in 2-4 hours... took me 2 days because it wasn't as interesting and switched to another book. More detail and character development. Less concern over spelling and vernacular.

A bit disjointed at times but this was fun. The aunts were a little too strange, even for eccentric "old women"
