Someone took her.
Unless she was she never there…

Has Nova’s abusive ex stolen his “little bunny” back for good?

At first, Officer Ellie James assumes this is a clear custody battle. Until she discovers that there are no pictures of the girl and her drawers are full of unused toys and brand new clothes that have never been worn…

This is my second book written by this author. I absolutely LOVED, My Sister is Missing, and immediately put, Without A Trace, on my TBR list. The premise of this book is terrific. I kept turning the pages trying to figure out if four year old Lily ever existed or if Nora had created a fake child and was an unreliable narrator. I am a big fan of how Carissa Ann Lynch does not write lengthy books, filled with fluff. It is such a treat to finish an entire book in one or two sittings. Thank you NetGalley and Harper Impulse and Killer Reads for my e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my fair and honest review. This was the first book written by this author that I have read. I enjoy suspense/thrillers its one of my favorite genres. I found this book a little strange as it jumped from character to characters point of view. Nova has ran with Lily from her abusive husband, and then the first night Lily disappears. Is there actually a Lily, that is one of the main questions or is Nova a whack job. I enjoyed that the book wasnt a long one, so that I got the answers before I got to the point the overall style of the book turned me off. I'm not saying this wasnt a good book because it actually was, just that I have never been a big fan of books jumping for character to chacter constantly and their point of view. I would give this book 3.5 stars.

don't like books written with so many different people's view of story. I would have given it a 4 star if it had only the victims story.

This book is built in layers. Each characters adds a layer to the story, with a change in direction with each layer. There is no clear cut crime, yet there is definitely something going on that the police cannot see. Carissa Lynch has done a great job of telling a disturbing story with enough clues and differing stories to keep you interested. A definite must read.

I received an advanced digital copy of this book from the author, Netgalley.com and Harper Impulse and Killer Reads. Thanks to all for the opportunity to read and review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own. Ms. Lynch's story of a woman fleeing her abusive husband will keep you guessing until the very end. A little girl is missing and the violent husband is the prime suspect, but was she really even there? Add a small town, an ambitious cop with a history, and a villian that is truly despicable. Nothing is what it seems. Well written and thoughtful, this book should definitely be on this summer's TBR lists! 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended.

Loved the book!! It was fast paced and I couldn't stop reading because I needed to know what happened. There were so many twists and turns. I wasn't sure who to believe and kept wondering if Lily really existed. On the other hand, I kept thinking, if Nova is telling the truth about her husband then he is one scary/crazy person. Loved Officer Ellie James and she was by far my favorite character. I hated how her fellow officers treated her. Not sure how I feel about the ending. I honestly wasn't expecting it. I thought it was going to end differently but was so happy to finally learn the truth about everyone. Definitely recommend the book. Loved every part- the story, characters and writing style. I can't wait to read more books by the author. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Harper Impulse and Killer Reads through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

4.5 stars! Police officer rookie Ellie James is called to help Nova Nesbitt find her missing daughter, Lily. Shortly after, Nova goes missing as well, and her abusive husband is the number one suspect. I really enjoyed how this was written from the point of view of different characters. I believe that it brought the story together, little by little. It held my attention from the very beginning. Each chapter ended with a cliff-hanger, causing me to not want to put the book down. I had to keep on reading to see where it was going. I would definitely categorize this as a thriller because it had so many twists and turns. Once I had a guess as to what was going to happen, I was proved wrong. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the ending. I know this was a shorter book, but I felt as though the ending was a bit abrupt. It could have been made a little bit longer and given the readers a bit of clarification about some questions they may have had. Carissa Ann Lynch did a phenomenal job and I look forward to reading more from her in the future!

A page turner, impossible to put down. Thrilling and nailbiting-ly good. The only thing I had an issue with, was the abrupt ending. It felt a little rushed, something I wasn't ready for at this point. Aside from that it was really, really good. I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Impulse and Killer Reads!

Nova is in hiding with her young daughter, Lily. She's scared that her abusive husband will find her ... and kill her as he has threatened. The first night they spend in this dilapidated cabin far away from where she came from, her daughter disappears from her bed. Left in her place is a raggedy stuffed bunny rabbit, Certain that her husband has found them and taken her daughter, she calls the police. Officer Ellie James assumes this is most likely a case for the courts to decide when it comes to custody battles. As Nova is still married, the husband has a right to their child. But Officer James is getting some strange vibes from the terrified mother. There are no signs that a child is living there. All the clothes are brand new, some still with tags on them. Some toys are in a bag .. nothing to show they've been played with. No pictures ... no drawings ... no colored pictures. Nova's nearest neighbor states she has never met Nova or her daughter. Nova's husband says he and Nova have never had a daughter. Is Ellie searching for a missing child who doesn’t actually exist? This is an excellent psychological thriller. It's well written with memorable, finely drawn characters. Everyone seems to be harboring secrets. Ellie James is a relative rookie. She started out by shooting an abusive man who also happened to be a retired cop. She's also coping with a mother who is a bit controlling herself. This would make a great series .... Many thanks to the author / Harper Collins - Killer Reads / Netgalley for the advanced digital copy of this excellent book. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Nova Nesbitt and her daughter, Lily, age 4, have just moved into a log cabin many hours from her home. It is just the right size for the two of them. Nova has finally gotten the courage to leave her husband, Martin. He is an angry and violent man who takes his temper out on Nova. Even still, she is terrified that he will find them. The first morning Nova goes to waken Lily only to find her gone. In her place in bed is a scraggly stuffed rabbit that Nova has never seen before. Nova is convinced that her husband has found them and has stolen Lily. Ellie James, local policewoman, has been called to investigate the disappearance of Lily. Neighbor and landlady to Nora lives next door. Her name is Clara. When interviewed, Martin insists that they don’t have a child and that it’s a figment of his wife’s deranged imagination. When a gruesome discovery is made in the cabin, Ellie realizes something truly sinister is at work in this case. This story delves into the lives of women who have been broken down by abusive and controlling husbands to the point that they are totally under their spell. But there is a much bigger plot afoot here and it will take some clever investigating to discover what has happened. A good story but I must admit that I got a little frustrated trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Perhaps that’s what makes it a good mystery. Well done.
