Overview

New York Times best-selling author Nancy Krulik keeps listeners giggling with the delightful-and often disastrous-adventures of class clown George Brown. Here George is determined to save enough cash to get a new remote-controlled toy. But his moneymaking plans are put in jeopardy when his crazy “magical” burps return, landing him a cruel punishment-the world's worst wedgie.

School Library Journal - Audio

Gr 2–4—In the third installment (Grosset & Dunlap, 2010) of Nancy Krulik's series, George's family has moved again. George vows to stay out of trouble and for a while it works. As in the first two books, the "super burp" still haunts George and threatens to get him into trouble. Silliness lurks around every corner as George tries to earn money to buy a remote-controlled toy. At one point, he's working in his mother's craft store when the "super burp" takes over his entire body. While his arms and legs are moving uncontrollably, he gets wrapped in pink and purple polka-dotted cloth that transforms him into a "super burp" fueled mummy. Then, in an attempt to earn more money, he hosts a backyard circus. While performing tricks on his trampoline, his "super burp" causes him to get caught on a branch where he gets the "world's worst wedgie." He continues to get into odd situations that are directly related to his burps. Narrator Jonathan Todd Ross has a pleasant tone and does a good job of bringing multiple voices to life—as well as George's burps. Young boys who like humor related to body functions will enjoy this listen.—Caitlyn Walsh, Fayetteville Public Library, AR
