I thank Lisa for this book which is an amazing, heart-rendering gift to the world. The last two years of Patrick's life are told in detail, and it is so real that you almost feel like you are right there with them. Emotionally, it pulls no punches--and my tears flowed throughout the reading of the book--which I finished in one day. The book includes describing the horrible, underfunded for research and treatment pancreatic cancer illness, the limited choices for treatment (which include devastating side effects),slim odds for beating it--and yet how to fight it and win battles with super-human courage and dignity. Also, the book contains knowledge as to how to work with the medical professionals, stages and feelings dealing with a terminal illness, and with the unthinkable--losing your soul-mate. Being a huge, long-term fan of Patrick and already considering him to be a real-life hero, and always being impressed by the love between Patrick and Lisa, and having lost my grandmother to pancreatic cancer, it was a must-read. It was well-worth it because the book has changed me for the better. I salute Patrick, Lisa, and Donny for being larger-than-life heroes for their inspiring battle against pancreatic cancer--which continues on. While illustrating the forever love between Lisa and Patrick, the book affirms the power of love and the strength of the human spirit, and ultimately the importance of taking nothing for granted and living each day to the fullest I am sure that Patrick is smiling about the book and Lisa moving forward. This book will help insure that Patrick's heroic battle and amazing spirit will never be forgotten and will inspire others in their struggles. It may also help others who love Patrick to move forward.

I just finished this book, and will probably read it again. While being sad, knowing that Patrick dies, it's also a great book because Lisa gets to tell her side of this story. She suffered right along with Patrick, yet had to keep a smile and great attitude while caring for him. This book shows the love they have for each other. They gave it all they had and never gave up. Patrick is at peace and pain free now, and I hope that Lisa can move forward more now that she has told her story. I adored Patrick as an actor and dancer. On my 40th B-Day I went to see Dirty Dancing with my girlfriends and that was it. Lisa, I respect you so much. The love you two had, and you're care giving is wonderful. After 45 years of marriage, if I'm ever faced with something this terrible, I hope I can do as you have done. God Bless you!

What a beautiful relationship this couple had together over three decades! I am not quite half way through this book and find myself right there at the exact moment Lisa is as she is writing this book. What an amazing woman she is. You can completely feel the love she and Patrick have for one another. I admire her strength and support for her husband. Absolutely LOVING this book. You find yourself rooting for the both of them throughout the book.

This is going to be the first book i purchase on my nook. I have always been a fan of lisa and patrick. I give you tramendous blessings for all you have been through along side your husband. I also had a couple scares with my husband in the past couple years with sarcoidosis. I had never heard of it. I was horrified, but i stood by his side and the following year he had a stroke. I felt like my world stood still, i dropped to my knees and prayed to God. There was nothing i could do, i left it all in Gods hands then. We are both in our early 30's, have four kids from 16 to 10... i had no idea what i woul do if i lost him. But reading this sample just brought me to tears and want you to know that my blessings are with you. Youre a very courageous woman and youre in my prayers..... oh and as to another comment posted' the Swayze's loved horses.

I was very touched by the journey that Patrick and Lisa went through. I know exactly what Patrick went through, I lost my brother to Pancreatic Cancer Stage IV July 2010 at age 43 my brother battled this horrible cancer for 6 mos after being diagnosied. The book was very well written. RIP in peace Patrick and my brother Mike.

I was reeled in, hook, line, and sinker by the end of page 1 and had to keep reading. It was almost midnight (I have a rule to not read after midnight - no book or ending makes 3 or 4 hours of sleep worth it the next day). I read through Chapter 3 and reluctantly put the book down for the night. Lisa's writing style and conversational tone are perfect for a memoir. Plus, I had loved Patrick Swayze since Dirty Dancing and just recently re-watched that movie for probably the 5,000th time. Can't believe I almost let this one go without reading it. If you love a good memoir, this one won't let you down. PS - Expect to cry. It's impossible not to, and may we all be so lucky to find a love as strong as theirs.
