Around the world there seems to be something missing. Something that has slowly drained from our thinking and actions. What’s missing? In one word…..KINDNESS. In his book, Your Next 24 Hours, Hal Donaldson dives into the issue by sowing fresh thought in the minds of the starving and seed into the hearts of those willing to dream again about how their intentional kindness could change the lives of others and ultimately their own lives in the process. He writes, “Think of your heart as a bank vault that’s packed with currency of love and kindness. When that currency is hoarded—it is wasted. But when it is invested in the lives of others, it pays great dividends. With each disbursement, you give others strength, hope, and value.” One simple but powerful statement struck me as I read this book. “When people are at their lowest, they need you to be your kindest.” That statement is true whether your live in abundant wealth with 3 meals a day or in destitute poverty struggling to survive. Kindness is the common need and it’s always within our ability to share it liberally with everyone. Throughout Your Next 24 Hours, Hal gives you numerous examples of how kindness has changed people’s lives as well as multiple suggestions about how you could engage this kindness movement with intentional actions of your own. One day of kindness can change everything! Your one day of kindness could change someone else’s every day! I encourage you to pick up a copy of Your Next 24 Hours and start your personal journey to kindness and compassion. It will be a journey that will change your life!

“Through your kindness, you can change your home, workplace, school, and community.” This book gives practical advice on how to change your world through kindness! Reading this book and practicing at least one of the suggestions may change your life! “People deserve love and respect regardless of where they come from, how they look, or what they need.” Each chapter ends with five suggestions of ways to show kindness. I highly recommend Your Next 24 Hours to everyone. We can all benefit by being kinder. I received a preview copy of Your Next 24 Hours from Baker Books. This is my honest opinion.

This was very interesting and I enjoyed seeing how small things can make big changes. It really gives you something to think about when you are hoping to make an impact for change. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review. This opinion is entirely my own.

This book starts with a foreword from Candace Payne, aka "Chewbacca Mom" of Youtube fame, who recently got signed to a multi-book deal herself through Zondervan Publishing. I noticed the outside of the book also features some interesting choices for promotional blurbs, one being from Anne Beiler, founder of Auntie Anne's Pretzels and another from Curt and Nancy Richardson, inventors of Otterbox tech protective cases. The one blurb I really loved though was from San Francisco 49ers tight end Vance McDonald. Once you get into the meat of this book, you'll see that each chapter starts with an inspirational quote from a celebrity name you know. Just to name a few: Princess Diana, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Mother Teresa, Marilyn Monroe, Matthew McConaughey, Audrey Hepburn, Walt Disney, Nelson Mandela, Denzel Washington, Magic Johnson, Ellen DeGeneres, Natalie Portman, and Jane Goodall. Many more are included. Also referenced are inspirational stories of generosity involving celebrities such as Paul Walker, Kate Winslet, Adam Levine, Jake Gyllenhal, Zendaya, and Amy Adams. Each chapter ends with a "Kind Ways" list, suggestions for little ways you can incorporate good deeds into your daily life, either through acts that benefit others or steps you can take to improve your own mental / physical wellness. In among all these celebrity anecdotes (as well as his own) and tips to motivate the reader to action, Donaldson also offers up some solid lines to ponder on. Once you're inspired to carry out these small acts of kindness on your little patch of Planet Earth, Donaldson then explains how your little acts positively will positively affect the world on a global scale. Along with this, he also stresses the importance of being kind to the planet itself, being environmentally conscious, and ways you can go about doing that if you are unsure of where to start. Though this entire book is under 200 pages, there is a bounty of inspiration and information to be harvested from its pages! If you find yourself discontent with the state of the world right now and want to make a change but don't know where to start or if you are skeptical about how much difference little ol' you could make in the grand scheme of things, I urge you to try this book out and see for yourself that every little act helps! If you are on Twitter, Hal Donaldson encourages you to share your stories of progress with him (@ConvoyOfHope) under the hashtag #YourNext24 FTC Disclaimer: Baker Books kindly provided me with a complimentary copy of this book & requested that I check it out and share my thoughts. The opinions above are entirely my own.

Your Next 24 Hours combines inspirational accounts with a practical, accessible approach to kindness. The short and easy to digest topical chapters focus on different aspects of kindness. The “Kind Ways” section at the end of each chapter provides easy to adopt ways to be kind. I took my time reading this book so I wouldn’t miss the point of each chapter. I suggest a chapter a day to give you time to absorb and apply. This book could also serve as a small group curriculum for those wanting to show others kindness.

Your Next 24 Hours is a very easy read, but putting the idea into practice may be challenging at first. Instead of random acts of kindness, the author urges the readers to intentionally practice kindness every day. There are many inspiring stories from a cross-section of society of people who did a kind act and the impact it made on people around them. Very often Hal Donaldson gives some guidelines for practicing kindness. The layout and order of the book inspire the reader with an area where kindness is needed and then each chapter ends with 5 ways one can practice kindness related to the chapter. Even though I was given this book for a pre-sale review, I still recommend the book as having much to offer. It clearly motivates the reader to intentional acts of kindness.

This is a wonderful book that will inspire you to find ways that you can show kindness to others and help spread joy and cheer, impacting those around you and having a positive influence in the world. Each chapter is short and easy to read, but has a powerful motivational point, sharing heartwarming stories of kindnesses, love, and actions that have blessed others (be prepared to shed tears over a number of the stories), and suggestions of how you can do similar things. So many of us think there's little we can do because of what we lack- money, time, resources, etc., but this book will help show you how to to share and give what you do have- from a simple smile and a kind word to other ways to help others, from the simple to big. You'll be able to find plenty of suggestions, and plenty of inspiration from the examples, to be able to "go and do likewise" to the people around you, from your family to your friends to your neighbors and co workers, to those who you may not have even noticed were there before but who you can touch in a possibly life changing way. And the greatest part- it will help you see how touching others with kindness will also touch you and make your world a better one to live in. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and will end up rereading it over and over, probably a chapter a week, for continued inspiration to keep spreading the love and kindness each day. I strongly recommend this book, not just for your own reading, but as one to give to others as well. We are already planning a purchase at our church to give this book out to people in the congregation so that they will be motivated to bless those around them.

Fantastic compilation of reminders, short stories, glimpses into different people's decision to show kindness... from an unknown do-gooder who pays it forward in the drive through to the mega movie star who purchased a diamond ring for a couple he didn't even know, these inspiring recollections will make you more aware of what you can do every day. Practical tips and suggestions at the end of every chapter gives positive peer pressure to join in the kindness movement! It all starts with me. And you! Read and be inspired, be challenged, be moved toward compassion.

“One day of kindness can change everything.” That’s the premise behind Hal Donaldson’s latest book, Your Next 24 Hours. But can it really? This book brings a fascinating collection of stories as evidence of how acts of kindness impact people every day, and the ripple effect of that goes beyond today. This book had my attention when it’s opener started with a story about Paul Walker, known for his role in the Fast and Furious series, before his expected death in 2013. I thought to myself, okay Hal, thanks for making it real, I wasn’t expecting that. From there, the author shared a series of stories that winds the reader through a pattern of growth and change and culminates with the ultimate challenge of living a life of “radical kindness.” At the conclusion of each chapter, the reader has the opportunity to grow and gain experience by taking action and following one of the suggested means of engaging in “Kind Ways.” I found this book very timely considering today’s political climate that has so many people agitated and on guard. It’s easy to fall into the trap of complaining and ranting about what we like and don’t like, but instead this book allows the reader to see how a path of kindness can change everything. What do you have to lose? One thing is for sure, being kind will certainly have a positive impact, but it’s highly unlikely that all that ranting will do much besides raise your blood pressure!

"Kindness means seeing the unseen, hearing the unheard, and touching the unloved... A kind life demands that we pursue peace and show love to our enemies... People deserve love and respect regardless of where they come from, how they look, or what they need." - Hal Donaldson, Your Next 24 Hours I was so excited to receive the book and start reading! It is absolutely wonderful. The book is an easy read and so practical. Each chapter provides "Kind Ways" at the end that serve as action steps to help you put what you just read into action. How great is that! I also love the use of stories. Each chapter contains stories about real people acting in kindness. These people range from the average person to celebrities. It is so cool to read about all the goodness happening in our world. I am studying social work, and at times I become disheartened because I am consistently face to face with all the bad happening in our world. I'm sure you feel the same way at times. The media loves to highlight the bad but rarely shines a light on all the kind things happening in our world. This book shifts the focus. For me, it was a much-needed change of pace. Hal's words helped me to reframe the way I see the world. My kindness can make a difference. My kindness can and will affect my world, one act at a time. I may not see the fruit of my deeds now, but that should not stop me. It only takes one person, and I can be the one.
