My inner romantic is rather partial to a second chance love story and Robin Bielman brings us a captivating journey in Yours at Midnight. Lyric Whetstone and Quinn Sobel have known each other since they were seven. She never saw him as she was smitten with his twin, Oliver - his twin who died four years previously leading to a night of grief fuelled passion. Quinn left, but now he's back. And it's not long before both he and Lyric realise their feelings run deeper than they imagined. ‘He'd always cared. He just hadn't shown it.’ As always, Robin has brought us a couple to love. Sweet, sexy and with their own secrets, there was absolutely nothing not to love about Quinn (the man was adorable) and although Lyric frustrated me a little, she was still very likeable. Together they brought emotion, feeling and some great build-up. And as always there was some lovely humour. ‘I knew your mouth was talented, but I had no idea you were so good with your hands, too.’ Why it's taken me so long to read this, I have no clue, but if you're looking for a short-ish romance that packs the feels and holds a couple of nice surprises, you can't go wrong. This is exactly why Robin Bielman is one of my favourite authors. She never fails to leave you with a happy heart. And some days, you just need that. 4.5 stars. Growing up, Lyric was always with the twins next door, Quinn and Oliver. She was always drawn to Oliver, who had the friendlier disposition. Quinn and Lyric always acted like they didn't like each other. Even when younger, they feared how they made each other feel. Oliver passed away in a car accident 4 years ago and the night of the funeral Quinn and Lyric found comfort in each other's arms. Now he's back to try and reconcile the guilt he feels for Oliver's accident and for leaving Lyric with out a goodbye the night of the funeral. What will Quinn and Lyric's family think when they find out about the secret she's been keeping for nearly four years? Fantastic story line! I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down. Quinn and Lyric have a strange relationship but their chemistry is undeniable and sizzles just under the surface. There are some great secondary characters too! Max is a little cutie and I wish we could have seen more interaction from him but I loved the story anyway! I can't wait to read more from this amazing author. Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

In this contemporary romance, Quinn's been half in love with Lyric from the start of their friendship several years earlier but his twin brother Oliver had all her attention until he tragically died in an accident for which Quinn has always blamed himself. Lyric and Quinn had one night together in their shared grief after which Quinn left for 4 years, returning now with his head straight and determined to show Lyric his true feelings for her. I quite enjoyed this romance though secrets that are kept throughout a story are not my favourite plot device - sometimes I just want to tell the characters that if they communicated with each other there wouldn't be all this angst! But then again, there wouldn't be a story either. I thought Lyric and Quinn were both well written and interesting characters and it is obvious that there is still chemistry between them from the first time they see each other after Quinn's long absence, making their love scenes sweet and emotional. I liked how Quinn was able to come to terms with his brother's death over the course of the story and make the decisions he needed to in order to be the man for Lyric. There is a mix of lightheartedness and more serious moments making for an interesting and entertaining romance. 4 stars.

I missed the opportunity to read Yours at Midnight by Robin Bielman when it was first published a little over a year ago. So when I was given the chance to read it prior to its re-release, I jumped at it. This is the love story between entrepreneur Lyric Whetsone and translator Quinn Sobel. Lyric, Quinn, and Quinn's late twin brother Oliver, grew up together. Four years ago on New Year's Eve, Quinn and Oliver were in a car accident driving home from a party, and Oliver lost his life. After the funeral, Lyric and Quinn drowned their grief in each other and then moved on with their respective lives. Lyric made a life for herself in their hometown, while Quinn took a job in New York City. Now Quinn is back in North Carolina, to spend the holidays with his parents, obtain some much needed closure and convince Lyric that he is a much nicer person than he used to be. Quinn wants Lyric more than ever. However, if anyone needs to make amends for their actions it is Lyric, for keeping a life-changing secret from Quinn. Luckily, the love that developed during their childhood remains genuine and true. I really enjoyed this book. Ms. Bielman packs a lot of punch into this novella and I really liked the way she evolved Lyric and Quinn's love story. They were easy to get to know and their passion for each other was palpable. Ms. Beilman beautifully combined excitement, heat, and drama into this romantic read, and there was never a moment that I did not want Lyric and Quinn to be together. Robin writes such wondrous feel-good romances! I love them! When I pick up one of her books, I know that I will be in for a wonderful, enjoyable read.  Yours at Midnight was a treat. Lyric and Quinn are wonderful characters. Quinn is our tortured hero who has been in love with Lyric since childhood. But... Lyric was besties with Quinn's brother. The three of them as next-door neighbors made a lot of memories through the years. Quinn's brother has now tragically passed away. Quinn has been away from home having left shortly after his brother's funeral. He hasn't seen or talked to Lyric in all that time, and he has an apology to make to her. Lyric has a few big secrets of her own. LOL! I wanted to shake her more than once!  I connected immediately to both Lyric and Quinn. They're both survivors; each was stubborn and strong. The book's supporting characters and the setting as the time line neared New Year's Eve were perfect. I couldn't put the book down as Lyric's and Quinn's re-developing more-than-friendship went helter-skelter as the clock neared the new year.  If you like to read light romances with happy ever after endings, you must read Robin's books. They're all great! Her writing just flows and it always immerses me completely in the story. 4 3/4 stars! (Just because I wanted to shake Lyric so much during part of the book!)

While this is a short romance, I was pleasantly surprised by how complete I felt at its conclusion. It was exactly the right amount of sexy, wit, suspense, conflict, and character development. The writer did a lot more within her perimeters than other writers with lengthier stories. I didn’t feel shorted nor was there any excess fluff. Quinn and Lyric shared a beautiful love that wasn’t always evident to them. Their playful banter reminds me so much of my husband and I which is a testament to the story’s ability to be relatable. The sexy scenes are sizzling. The supporting characters are well established and there is potential for branching out. I really enjoyed this light read and look forward to more from Ms. Bielman. If you just want a feel-good undemanding romance to cleanse your palette, this is it!

A perfect weekend romance, a fun little escape into the world of lifelong frienemies unfolds as your plunged into a world of secrets, heart ache, and missed opportunities. It makes you wonder how many of your childhood ‘I can’t stand the sight of hims’ really could have grown up to be someone you’d really like to be with. Yeah, not one would have turned out as well as Robin’s Quinn. I know, I’ve checked them out on Facebook. Lyric and Quinn’s story intertwines through the years. Unfortunately, his grief and guilt when he lost his brother set in motion a series of events that he’s totally unaware of. He wants to make things right with his family and his old neighbor, Lyric.  The question becomes, how is he going to take it all in, and will he cope with it all.  This is a  short romance, perfect for an evening of blissful reading.

Yours at Midnight by Robin Bielman was a deliciously angsty story that hit all my sweet spots. It all started with a crush, a childhood love – of the wrong brother. Lyric and Quinn met as children, but unfortunately for Quinn, it was his brother Oliver, who Lyric wanted. When Oliver died, their grief and guilt lead them to one night together – a night that left them both reeling. Now, a number of years out, Quinn was back. Quinn and Lyric were both multi-dimensional characters, though Lyric was the more finely drawn of the two. Both had strong, emotional arcs and had very real issues to confront. Quinn was angsty and broody and painfully unhappy enough to create a deep sympathy for him. Lyric held on to the past a bit too much for her own good and needed a sharp shock to open her eyes. The supporting cast (mostly Lyric’s family) all had roles to play and their roles were definitely a surprise. Unfortunately, none of them were hidden gems. What really kept this story moving along are the deep and difficult issues between Lyric and Quinn and the strong push-pull that both experienced. So while the story moved at an even pace throughout and never felt rushed, the tension continued to mount until the explosion. In the darkest hour, a kiss can make it all better. Quinn Sobel and Lyric Whetsone have known each other since they were seven years old, when the Sobel family moved next door to the Whetsone family. For twenty years now, both families have been good friends. Since they first met, Quinn has had feelings for Lyric, however Lyric was ALWAYS too quick to dismiss Quinn, preferring to focus on his twin brother Oliver. Four years ago, on New Year’s Eve, Quinn and Lyric’s worlds came crushing down on them with the death of Oliver due to a DUI accident. Quinn has spent the last four years living with the guilt of what happened to his brother and keeping a distance from his family. Lyric has spent the last four years lying to everyone but herself. Now, with the fourth anniversary of his brother’s passing, Quinn is ready to come clean and make amends with his parents and Lyric for leaving. A family emergency keeps William and Vivian Sobel from spending this time with their only son, thus opening the door for Caroline and Douglas Whetsone to welcome Quinn back into their family for the holidays, much to Lyric’s horror. Lyric wants nothing more than for Quinn to get on a plane and go back to New York, where it’s safer for her. I will be the first to admit I had no idea what to expect from this story before I started reading it. For whatever reason, Lyric’s secret completely blindsided me. I fell for Quinn immediately. I mean seriously, who wouldn’t? He’s hot, sexy, and speaks at least four different languages. There were definitely times when I didn’t like Lyric. Overall, she is a really good person with a good and kind heart, doing her best to cope with her situation. I wish there was a Prologue to this story so that I could find out what happened after New Year’s when Lyric’s secret is finally revealed to everyone. This is one of those stories that I wish could go on forever. Source: NetGalley Reviewed for Read Your Writes Book Reviews

This was such a fun book. I fell in love with both Quinn and Lyric right away. Robin did a great job of developing these characters, especially since this was a novella.  I jumped on for the ride and didn't put the book down until it was over (well, maybe once when I had to go to work). Quinn is a very complicated, yet simple guy. He has come back after four years and wants to right some wrongs. He feels so much guilt and shame over his brother dying in the car accident that Quinn survived. He has always loved Lyric but just left her when things got too hard to handle. Now he is back for her. He has so much to say to her that should have been said years before. I love Quinn's easy nature with people, especially Lyric's mother Caroline. She is like a second mother to him. Lyric carries the weight of the world on her shoulders.  She has kept so much inside for the past four years since Quinn left.  Now that Quinn is back she is completely out of sorts. Her mind and heart are thinking two different things when it comes to Quinn, which only complicates her situation. She also has this secret that keeps getting in the way but she is so afraid to talk to him about it. Normally, as a woman, I tend to side with the female heroines in books, but in this one I was all team Quinn. Lyric did come around though and also righted some of her past wrongs with Quinn. Robin pulls some tricks in the story that really thicken the plot and had me gasping out loud a time or two. She also had me laughing and feeling sad for the characters. She did a wonderful job of balancing the specific romantic moments with the overall plot of the story. I thought Yours at Midnight was a sweet, emotional, fun, contemporary romance story. If you are searching for a quick weekend read, I highly recommend it. I look forward to more books by Robin Bielman in the future!

This was a delightful read from talented author Robin Bielman. I enjoyed the characters who, to me, felt multidimensional and interesting. The story was terrific and kept me enthralled till the very end. I love this author's voice and writing style. I find it engaging and delightful to digest. I encourage any romance fans to purchase this book. As I felt with Bielman's other work, Worth The Risk, you won't be disappointed. A well deserved five stars!!!!

This was such a great novella and I adored it, devouring in a couple of hours.  I love romance, and this is just the type of story I really enjoy.  Lyric, Quinn, and his brother Oliver grew up together.  Quinn was always mean to Lyric growing up, but he really loved her, and Lyric was in love with Oliver, or so she thought.  When Oliver died in a car crash on New Year's Eve, everything changed.  Quinn and Lyric shared and night of passion after the funeral and then he disappeared from her life.  It is now 4 years later, Christmas Day, and when Lyric delivers her neighbor's escaped dog home, who does she find answering the door but Quinn.  What she doesn't know is that Quinn is there to apologize and make amends for what he has done. Old habits die hard, and these two fall back into the pattern of arguing, though the love and sexual tension lies just beneath the surface.  Over the ensuing few days, as much as Lyric tries to prevent it, these two end up spending a lot of time together.  There is one problem.  Lyric has a huge secret, a secret which she hasn't told anyone about, and just as these two seem to be reconciling their differences and discovering something new, this secret threatens to tear them apart. Your's at Midnight is a heart warming, romantic, and fun read.  The story line is great, as are the characters, and Quinn is such a hottie.  I loved the relationship between these two, and there are a couple of great steamy scenes also.  If you love romance and are looking for an quick, enjoyable, and entertaining read that leaves you feeling happy and warm all over (I know I sound cheesy, but I am such a sucker for a good romance), then Your's at Midnight is one book you should check out.

What a delightful book! I rarely read novellas, but I have to say, I'm so glad I took a chance on this one. It was exactly what I was looking for -- a fun, quick, romantic, satisfying read that also got me in the holiday spirit (for both Christmas and New Year's). I adored both Quinn and Lyric. Their path from enemies, to one night stand, to strangers, to lovers felt very authentic and kept me reading and wondering how they would finally get together. The secondary characters were wonderful as well. I just wanted to give Lyric's wise, warm mother a hug, and three-year-old Max seemed very true-to-life, something that is so rare in novels. He spoke and acted just like a child his age. Other characters had their own little quirks that added to the story as well. (Swear jar, anyone?)  Really, at the end, I just have to say that reading this book made me happy, and is there any better recommendation than that?

I loved Yours at Midnight! The heroine, Lyric, is as original as her name. Yet as a reader, I connected with her easily. With dreams and hopes dashed, she faces the challenges life deals her with an enthusiasm that will have you falling in love with her and rooting for her happily-ever-after from the very beginning. The tortured hero, Quinn, although successful in his career, has run away from everything and everyone he's ever cared about because it's easier to be alone than to face the loss of his brother, especially when the woman Quinn loves misses his brother more than she would ever miss Quinn. Then as New Years rolls around, these two find each other through all their mistakes and heartaches. Ms. Bielman's story, Yours at Midnight, is filled with hope and love. It's perfect to get you in the mood to start the new year with a new perspective. Loved it!
