Meet the Author

I'll stretch my fiction skills to the limit in an attempt to make a suburban Ontario housewife sound scintillating. Here goes:

By day Lainey Bancroft is a mild mannered office manager for the HVAC business she owns with her husband (frequently referred to as Gas, long story—with several different endings). The office is run from her home so she has the luxury of working in her pj’s 24/7 and is also available as a truant officer for her teens, Groovy Girl, who prefers art to arithmetic and is attending the local college for graphic design, and Groovy’s brother Tech who spends hours on end playing guitar riffs from old head banger music and would rather hack into the school computer than actually go to school. (We reckon he'll either be the next Billy the Kid or the next Bill Gates)

Lainey likes to indulge her athletic side by cleaning up after a six-month-old Golden Doodle puppy, a.k.a as the 'Dirt Devil' who lives to shred houseplants, a geriatric, attitude disordered cat that thinks he is a German Sheppard, and the newest addition to the family, a pure black kitten who wandered in despite the other crazy pets and never left. We call her Stella because she can scream just like DeNiro. Stel...lah! Yep, showing my age, for sure. Shocked

In addition to gardening and a vast kitchen repertoire that has earned her the—ahem, privilege—of hosting every family party and event, Lainey also writes. Her romance stories run the gamut on the sensuality scale, leaving her to wonder if she is sinfully sweet, or sweetly sinful. Last week she celebrated her 13th release, the novella Sunni Side Up included in The Wild Rose Press OUT OF THE DARK anthology. Lainey also has short works of erotic romance and speculative fiction published under a name she has yet to publicly admit to. Stay tuned.

There!

Zero stars - would not recommend this book or author to anyone.

I deleted the book after reading only 3 pages. The writing was mostly pornographic - something which I do not associate myself with. I do not want it my library, and I would not subject it to my friends. I was hoping that the loneliness of the main character was the main focus. However, I was sadly mistaken as each page became more and more graphic sexually. If this is the type of book you are waiting to read, it's all for you. No story line what so ever! Hope I remember this author so I do not purchase any more books by this author. Zero stars! I wouldn't recommend this book for any type of discussion.

Not really worth the time to read it

I give this book 2 stars, only because I can see that the author attempted to create a story here. It feel short though. Nearly 25% of the book is the elevator scene, which isn't really needed at all. Here are the things that I had problems with. 1) The female character is attracted to the assailant in the elevator at first - he wears her favorite cologne and she knows his voice from somewhere (although the author never reveals where). 2) Her rescuer is kind of a wimp. I get that he's the kind of person she never paid attention to and all that, but security guards (and doctors) are usually more assertive. 3) What was the point of the chocolate male organ? 4) When she and the security guard return to her apartment and tells the doorman they'll be ordering Chinese and to go ahead and let the delivery person up without calling, it's an obvious set-up for the assailant to show up as a delivery person. What doesn't make sense at all is how the assailant is smart enough to know she's at home and is planning to order Chinese, but is dumb enough that he doesn't know she has the security guard with her. 5) The security guard tells her to let the assailant into her home. What? No calling the police and having the doorman lock the doors so he can't get away? The book could have started in the beginning without the elevator scene, using the security guards perspective and a bit more time could then have been spent on developing the characters and their relationship instead of wasting the reader's time.

Should read the whole thing before raiting it, it turns out to b a good book.

A special book. In the begining i thought what sick person wrote this, but if you finish the book, it turns out to be a pretty good book. Id recomend it to the older crowed because of the sexual content, and some foul language. But definitly would recomend it, depending on the type of books u read.

Too short, with no development of characters

This is okay as a short story. It could easily have been lengthened into a full lenth novel. Definitely good that it was free. The main character is assaulted in the elevator after work, and she is rescued by a hot security guard. She takes him home, they begin a romance that the story barely brushes upon. I felt gyped at the end.

    Shoddy

What kind of women would cave in to being assaulted by a strange in an elevator? Don't bother reading this.
