Kent Eugene Olsen was born in Davenport, Iowa having joined a brother and two sisters. The family moved to Juda, Wisconsin at the start of his school years, where his father worked on a dairy farm. From there they moved to Monroe, Wisconsin where Kent was joined by two brothers. His father continued farming and then moved to Orangeville, Illinois where he bought his own farm.
