Cut & Run Series Book Five - Sequel to Divide & Conquer

Left alone in Baltimore after his unpredictable lover bails, Special Agent Zane Garrett takes his frustration out on everything in his path until he is ordered to Chicago to back up an undercover operative. When he gets there, though, he finds himself face to face with his wayward partner, Special Agent Ty Grady. They have to deal with the uncertainty lingering between them while they work to retrieve their intended mark, a retired hit man and CIA wet-works operative named Julian Cross.

Ty, once a Marine and now an FBI hotshot, has a penchant for being unpredictable, a trait Zane can vouch for. Zane is a man who once lived for his job but has come to realize his heartbreaking past doesn’t have to overshadow his future. They're partners, friends, lovers, and the go-to team for unusual cases. With Cross and his innocuous boyfriend, Cameron Jacobs, in tow, Ty and Zane must navigate the obstacles of a cross-country trek, including TSA pat-downs, blizzards, their uncooperative prisoners, CIA kill teams, a desperate lack of sleep and caffeine, and each other. Ty and Zane are determined to get Julian Cross to DC in one piece, but it’s starting to look like it might be the last thing they do.

    Stellar book in every way!

Ms. Roux has given us one of the most outstanding books of her career so far. I will be re-reading this fine work many times in future whenever I need a Ty/Zane fix, which is far more often than I would care to admit.

Ty & Zane are back and better than ever!

When anyone asks me to recommend a m/m book I tell them they need to read the Cut & Run series. I absolutely love Ty & Zane.
In Armed & Dangerous Director Burns sends Zane to back up Ty on one of his “special ops”. They are to pick up CIA assassin Julian Cross because he can identify the person in the CIA who has been using their assassins for personal gain. Julian has been living off the grid with his lover Cameron. Ty and Zane bring Cameron along to keep Julian compliant. The CIA wants Julian so he can identify the “guy”. The “guy” wants Julian dead and Ty and Zane just want to get out of it alive.
I like many who have followed and enjoyed Ty and Zanes escapades wondered how the series was going to be now that Ms. Urban had retired. Abigail Roux did an outstanding job with Armed & Dangerous. The guys still have the mix of heat and snark we all love. I recommend you read all the previous Cut & Run books before this one. You could probably read it stand-alone but you’ll understand it better if you read the earlier ones. You might also want to read Warrior’s Cross by Madeleine Urban & Abigail Roux to get to know Julian and Cameron better.

    Glock, Paper, Scissors

I love this series. This book is by far my favorite. The dynamic between Ty, Zane, Julian and Cameron is fantastic and I've found myself laughing out loud more than once. I can't wait to start the next book!

    Simply Wonderful

I don't know what to say about Ty and Zane but they just keep getting better and better. They are like two sides of a coin, different but perfectly matched only to each other. The love that has grown between them is like magic. I can't get enough of them and will be sad when the series end.

    A+ rating....

    My Review:
This is number five in the Cut & Run series, but it could be counted as a second book to another of the Urban/Roux books, because it also features the couple from Warrior's Cross. I am so glad that I read Warrior's Cross in between this book and number four. It's certainly not necessary, but I think that it adds a ton to the story to know Cam & Julian's history.

And knowing their history added a whole new level of enjoyment to this story, because Cam & Julian start out as the bad guys in this one...they are being taken into custody and dragged to DC in cuffs by Ty and Zane. And you know, Julian is not a pushover...he's a hired assassin and is very good at his job. But I didn't think that A. Roux would kill anyone in these books, so that gave a sense of safety to the story line especially the suspense side of it. It also made it so that you could just sit back and enjoy how much these two couples play off each other and laugh through reading the dialogue. They do not like each other (especially Ty and Julian) and the dialogue reflects that with tons of snarky comments. I can't even count how many times I laughed out loud while reading this book. It was so good and so entertaining.

And for the first time in a couple of books, I really, really liked the suspense side of the story line. Absolutely these books are character driven...*sigh*... Ty and Zane, but I enjoy a good suspense line to help drive the story. I thought this one was excellent with trying to fit exactly how everything fits together.

As always, Ty and Zane were amazing. I love getting to watch their relationship deepen and mature. There were so many truly sweet moments in this book that just melted my heart especially after the heartbreak at the end of book #5. There were also some surprises through the story lines featuring Nick and Preston that I didn't see coming.

Overall this is a GREAT addition to the series. It was fun and funny and entertaining and I think for the first time, no one spent quality time in the ER. It was really good!!!

One more well worth the read

Madeline has now bowed out of writing, leaving Abigail to handle those two hot Feebers on her own, and she proves more than up to the task. A glorious romp through a misadventure, Ty and Zane need to escort their prisoner back to Washington DC while staying alive and keeping their prisoner and his lover alive also. It proves to be more than the usual challenge, but our two boys are more than "up" for the task.
