Overview

At Knit's End captures the wickedly funny musings of someone who doesn't believe it's possible to knit too much and who willingly sacrifices sleep, family, work, and sanity in order to keep doing it. Stephanie Pearl-McPhee has seen it all, from the deadly “second sock syndrome” to a house so full of yarn she can't find her washing machine to desperate all-nighters spent feverishly finishing gifts. This hilarious collection of 300 tongue-in-cheek meditations will have knitters everywhere in stitches.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly

Obsessive knitter Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, whose popular knitting blog gets 20,000 hits per day, offers her fellow knitters humorous knitting anecdotes, bits of homespun (no pun intended!) wisdom, helpful tips and little "mantras" to help keep their sanity when realizing an entire sleeve of a sweater has come out wrong and has to be redone. Even nonknitters can appreciate much of her humor-for example, her technique for "darning" socks that have holes in them, "which consists of loudly exclaiming 'DARN!' and a few other choice expletives before dropping them in the garbage." Pearl-McPhee has a warm, engaging voice brimming with humor and often punctuated by a self-deprecating chuckle. This audiobook of her folksy ruminations would make the perfect gift for anyone who loves to knit. The print version of this title won the 2006 Benjamin Franklin Award in humor. A Storey Publishing paperback. (July)

    Highly entertaining & informative!

This should be on every knitters Christmas list! It's comprised of Stephanie's life experiences and really interesting facts that even beginning knitters can relate with. I bought a second copy for the friend that taught me how to knit. She was thrilled!

    A Great Break Between Rows

This book is wonderful to pick and read for a bit between your rows. It reinforces that knitting is a passion for almost anyone who picks up the needles, and helps you feel less crazy when you read about how obsessed Stephanie is.

    Hilarious, but very true....

This book is wonderful for not only the knitter, but also for anyone who lives with a knitting addict. The perfect book for the yarn-obsessed.

    As addictive as knitting itself

This is a must-read for any knitter who wonders if he/she is the only one with a yarn stash that never decreases in size or needs to know that others love the craft as much as they do. The book is just like my most recent knitting project - I found every possible free moment to read it until I was done. It gave me a renewed sense of love for knitting. Now, I think I'll go knit a sock (or two).

    A Great Read

At Knit's End is funny and quick-witted, like the 'Yarn Harlot' herself. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
