Really good book. I like that you added Lucas to make it look like Con, at first, had some competition. I like the dynamic between Con and Lord. Overall a great read.

This is an easy series. I enjoyed both books amd read them quickly. If you're looking for something to take on for a rainy day I would reccomend these. My only issue with this book was the over use of the word "ain't". I can appreciate when an author uses a specific word for affect once or twice however considering Con's wealthy foster upbringing and private school education I find it unlikely that you would find it littered through his vernacular. It tends to insinuate that he's less intellegent b/c he is a tattoo artist or simply a man covered in ink. I am well aquainted with the life style and can assure you no one I know uses the word ain't, ever.

Not having read the first book in the Beneath series, I was worried I wouldn't be able to fully enjoy this one. But with the delectable Con, who's a bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks, I completely gobbled up this story from the first page to the last. In Ms. March's hands she's crafted a cheer-worthy hero full of emotional baggage you can't help but love even as you blush at all his dirty talk. I just wish the heroine Vanessa had been as appealing as she's snotty, up-tight, and judgmental early on. Luckily she starts redeeming herself as the story progresses and they start digging deeper into each other's pasts and deal with their emotional baggage. Con grew up in a foster home and never felt he was good enough or a part of anything, which made for a lot of loneliness and anger. Vanessa was his idea of perfection but she always put him down until one unforgettable night. At least it was unforgettable to her and which left her running to protect her heart as she knew he could never be anything to her. Both of them went on with their lives with the other not far from their thoughts though. They're back in each other's world and as he has emotional baggage, so too does she as she's always struggled to be perfect and live up to familial expectations. Wanting to prove herself once and for all will require Con's help which will put him in very close contact with her again. The past and present continue to batter their burgeoning relationship though as outside prejudices and internal doubts keep them from their HEA. Danger from a well-hidden villain also keeps them from their HEA and the tension riding high in this engaging story. There's lots of steam too as the sexual tension is off-the-charts between Vanessa and Con. Their encounters crackle with electricity and with sexual banter that you can cut with a knife. As they grow closer they start letting their guards down as well as their emotional walls. They start to realize they're more alike than they thought which leads to some endearing and heartfelt moments. All in all this was an engaging story with the perfect blend of emotional intensity and steamy sexual encounters. The characters, both primary and secondary, are memorable and dramatically depicted to fully immerse me in their outcomes. Con was drool-worthy and my quintessential hero and I look forward to any glimpse I can get of him in the future. I'll definitely go back to read more of where he came from and plan on falling in love even more. There are other characters with stories clamoring to be told and I look forward to where Ms. March will take us next.

I read the first book and it was good but it was based on the two main characters just not talking about what was going on. I can't stand when a book is based on something that could simply be cleared up with a conversation. But, since the first book was still kind of good I decided to give the second one a try insound the plot based on the exact same thing. All this stuff happens and no one tells anyone else about it. I am now done with this series.

I was very excited to see Beneath this Ink would be Con’s story. I was intrigued by him in Beneath This Mask and wanted to get to know him more. I can’t say that I’m now a fan of Con’s, as he still kind of gets on my nerves… but Sebastian York’s narration definitely helped me with that a bit. I liked this story and felt that it had a great pace and entertaining story. My main issue with it was basically the connection between Con and Vanessa. I can’t really put my finger on it… but I just didn’t really buy their whole relationship. I don’t know if it was not connecting with these two characters individually, or them as a couple, but I just didn’t feel their romance, if that makes any sense. So though I really liked the story, it didn’t wow me as I had hoped. Overall, a super-steamy intense story that kept my attention throughout. With these two amazing narrators, Sebastian York and Andi Arndt, the audiobook is definitely the route I would most recommend. I couldn’t have chosen two better narrators personally. They were perfection! (Thanks to Blackstone Audio and Audiobook Jukebox for the review copy!)

5 star I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, suspense, grief, and heartbreak. If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Beneath This Mask (Beneath #1) This is Vanessa and Con’s story. Vanessa and Con had a one night stand before but Con can’t remember it. She needs something from Con. Con wants that one night again so he can remember. Vanessa will “date” Con and if they want that one night they will have it. Once they agree it turns out another man wants something from Vanessa. Vanessa will be in public with one man and in private with another. She wants Con no matter what can she have him or is he really just out for that one night? Con knows that Vanessa is keeping secrets but when the secrets are revealed will he ever forgive her? Or will he be out for revenge and take her down with him? Can these two ever make it work or will that one man comes between them? I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.
