Overview

Using the right phrase at the right moment can make all the difference! It can generate real interest in you, provoke more questions, and show an interviewer that you are the right person for the job. The same applies to written communications such as letters or emails and to voice mail messages. Like learning a foreign language, these phrases, when practiced carefully and used properly, become natural and powerful techniques by which to express ones self.

The advice, materials and phrases in Beyond the Resume arm you with appropriate actions to take and phrases to use. It is not the intent of the book to "prop you up" to sound like something you are not. Instead, it is to help you speak to your strengths, experiences, and job know-how. The book is a "soup to nuts" kind of book and takes you from the point of initial contact with the hiring authority, through interviewing, and on to closing the deal.

Beyond the Resume offers advice on all phases of a job search, including:

  • Developing a resume;
  • Writing letters;
  • Networking;
  • Cold-calling companies and recruiters;
  • Leaving voice mail;
  • Managing the interview;
  • Responding to trick and non-relevant questions;
  • And post interview correspondence

You will be armed with powerful and provoking phrases which catch the listener's or reader's interest and enable you to follow up with meaningful information, rather than just being glib or using buzz-words.

Each chapter covers a different scenario or set of circumstances in which using the right phrases will pay off for you. Rational will be discussed, dos and don'ts highlighted, and advice given on how to construct and use the phrases.

1-56414-867-X Great Quotes from Napoleon Hill

This is the first-ever collection of the most impactful quotes culled from all the books written by Napoleon Hill (1883-1970). Considered by many to be the "Founder of the Science of Success," or "The Father of Positive Thinking," Hill has been perhaps the most influential man in the area of personal success development, primarily through his book Think and Grow Rich

Born in a one-room cabin in 1883, Hill began his writing career at age 13. His big break came in 1908 when he was asked to interview steel-magnate Andrew Carnegie. Carnegie was so impressed with the young reporter that he commissioned Hill to interview millionaires to find a success formula that could be used by the average person. The result of his 20 year effort was the book Think and Grow Rich, the world's first philosophy of individual achievement and clearly delineated success principles. To date, Hill's book has sold more than 10 million copies, as these timeless success principles still resonate today:

Who said it could not be done? And tell me what great victories does he have to his credit which qualifies him to judge what can and can't be accomplished. The ladder of success is never crowded at the top. There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge. You must get involved to have an impact. No one is impressed with the won-lost record of the referee.

As an advisor to President Franklin Roosevelt, Napoleon Hill provided the famous phrase, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." His other books include Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude, Succeed and Grow Rich Through Persuasion, You Can Work Your Own Miracles, Grow Rich With Peace of Mind, Law of Success, and The Master Key to Riches.
