Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
Twelve-year-old Billy Neary is abducted from an Iowa mall and driven toward L.A. by violent, 40-ish Barton Royal, a man obsessed with pubescent boys. This is ``by turns gripping, plodding, truly horrifying and, finally, falsely sunny,'' said PW . (Oct.)

I read this book years ago, but it's still a favorite and I've never forgotten it. I want to read it again which is why I'm going to buy it. It was really good and creepy, sad, frustrantig, and horrible to imagine but it was so good a read I never forgot it. I read it as a teenager/

    One of Strieber's Best

The best novel about this very tragic aspect of our world I have read. Strieber does an excellent job of making both the victim and perpetrator very human. The only other book I've read that comes close is Robert McCammon's Mine, although that was very different in tone. 'For those children...' Indeed.

    Interesting.

The book was overall pretty good. I had a tough time with the last 60 pages or so. The author pushed numerous scenes in the last of the book that seemed a little far fetched. Especially because overall it was very well done. The last chapter seemed so out there it seemed funny. I did fall in love with poor Billy. This child was so smart I loved his ideas. Again, overall pretty good!
