Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Joan Elste
This creative reference book about birds in the "Facts at your Fingertips" series will definitely hold the readers attention with the necessary information it describes, covering everything one needs to know about the nature and essence of each bird. The illustrations are beautifully executed by widely known wildlife illustrators. There are small silhouettes depicting size by comparison to a foot or a human being, making the text even more interesting. The small maps under each species along the bottom of the pages are too small to actually be of much help to the reader. The text, also a bit small, covers details of each birds' natural environment and many facts the reader would need to know, from diet and nesting to extinction. Each bird basically fits the same format but that in itself makes for a good reference book for kids. Information is easy to look up for comparing species. Reviewer: Joan Elste
