Meet the Author

A native of Louisiana, Faith Hunter spent her early years on the bayous and rivers, learning survival skills and the womanly arts. She liked horses, dogs, fishing and crabbing much better than girly skills. She still does. In grade school, she fell in love with fantasy and science fiction, reading five books a week and wishing she could "write that great stuff." Faith now shares her life with her Renaissance Man and their dogs in a Enclave of their own.

Jane Yellowrock comes out muscled up and swinging in this latest

Jane Yellowrock comes out muscled up and swinging in this latest release in Faith Hunter's urban fantasy series.
If you've read her books so far, you will still be blown away by this episode of the series where Jane and Beast team up to rid
Louisiana of "spidey vamps" and deals with a bit of her past that adds another responsibility to her already full plate .  Get
this book, turn off the phones and don't answer the door...you won't want to stop reading long enough to answer either one!

I read extensively, and Faith Hunter has always been in my Top 5 favorite authors, especially for her Jane Yellowrock books. She does not disappoint with this one. Excellent and believable writing in the Urban Fantasy genre, without being silly or kitschy. I don't want to give too much away, but some of my favorite characters from previous books in this series make a reappearance. There is also some interesting story development that further explores issues w/Jane's Beast, Jane's distant past, and her love life. If you enjoy Urban Fantasy at all, I strongly recommend the Jane Yellowrock series and this book in particular.

Finally, things are looking up for Jane Yellowrock. The previous

Finally, things are looking up for Jane Yellowrock. The previous book, Death's Rival, left Jane isolated personally, unwillingly entangled
professionally, and at one of the lowest points in her life. It was, frankly, heartbreaking. As a fan of the series and of Jane in particular, I
was really hoping for some resolution in Blood Trade. I just couldn't bear to see Jane suffering. Thank you, Faith Hunter, for setting Jane
    on the road to redemption.
Once again, a job takes Jane to Natchez, Mississippi. Backed by a new team of sidekicks, Jane tackles a new and almost indestructible
type of vampire while trying to solve a mystery that threatens someone from her past. Because that isn't challenging
enough, Jane has to coordinate with local and federal law enforcement (including the ex-boyfriend who broke her heart) and rely on
help from former friends, one of whom bears a grudge against Jane and one who betrayed her. Saving vigilante grandmas; communing
with spirits; disrupting powerful witch magic - all in a day's work for Jane Yellowrock.
Besides great action and an intriguing mystery, the book continues Jane's journey of enlightenment and growth. We learn more about
her past and how it has influenced her character and decisions. We see the origin of Jane's need to stand up to bullies/ oppressors/
evil... Perhaps her most perplexing trait, Jane's compulsion to finish what she starts - even when it leads her in directions she does not
want to go, seemingly prioritizing work commitments (to people she neither respects nor trusts) over friends and allies - no longer
seems immoderate; it is a logical outcome of her early childhood. And best of all, Jane's new insight into her own values and behaviors
gives her the courage to start mending fences. All is not yet right in Jane's world, but a promising new day is dawning.

Jane just gets stronger as she learns more about herself and her beast. The vampires are deliciously evil, and this batch are nearly impossible to dispatch, making even an experienced bounty hunter  have the fight of her life. Magic, mayhem, strong friends  both old and new, the story is the best of the series. But I say that with each Jane release. It's not often that a character grows and develops as Jane and Beast have.

Jane Yellowrocks tale continues in Blood Trade. More twists and turns than you can shake a big cat at... Yep there is more Beast( a big mountain lion) in this book too. Some of the same characters carried over from previous books. If you like Urban Fantasy this is the series for you.

I've read a LOT of urban fantasy with a strong female lead. I was reading this genre before the phrase "urban fantasy" was coined. No character has grabbed my attention like Jane Yellowrock, a vampire killer who works for the vamps. Add in Beast, the mountain lion she shares her body with, and you've got a combination that goes way beyond kickass slayer. Blood Trade is the 6th book in the series and continues Jane's/Beast's adventures in the Deep South that started with Skinwalker. As Jane grows as an individual, my understanding of her character grows too, as does my conviction that Faith Hunter has created a unique person that will touch every reader.

Once again Faith Hunter brings us another fantastic adventure in the life of Jane Yellowrock, shape shifter and vampire hunter.
Jane is offered a job in Natchez, Mississippi and though her adventures in that city to date have been harrowing she will do just about anything to get out of NOLA and away from the MOC Leo Pellissier for a while.  This trip is no less dangerous maybe even more so.  There is a new breed of vamp out there and they are much harder to kill.  She has help in the form of the Younger brothers and eventually PsyLED in the form of Rick LeFleur and company and of course Bruiser shows up to protect his and Leo’s interests.  When it seems that there are witches involved Jane calls in Big Evan and despite their personal problems Evan agrees to help.  Nothing keeps this big cat down for long.
Rip roaring fast paced rollercoaster adventure from start to finish.

Jane and the Younger brothers, Eli and Alex, travel to Natchez,

Jane and the Younger brothers, Eli and Alex, travel to Natchez, Mississippi because the master of Natchez requests her help with the Nautraleza vampires. There is a large number of people disappearing and they believe the remaining Naturaleza are to blame.

Jane quickly discovers that there is something very strange about the Nautraleza in Natchez, most importantly they seem to be moving more like insects and virtually impossible to kill which makes her job much harder...but when two people from her past get caught this nefarious plot of these new vampires Jane will have to pull out all the stops to save them. If that wasn’t complicated enough, her friend from her past goes missing leaving her very ill young child in Jane’s care.

Jane is having a tough time dealing with the fallout from her past actions. She must keep a tight lease on Beast because of the bond with Leo. She is having difficulties reconciling her emotions on Brusier’s betrayal and Jane is mourning the loss of Rick.

Jane’s character growth in this installment was amazing. Even though she is suffering from a sort of despression/funk, she pulls herself together to be the ultimate protector and heroin we’ve come to love.

I am completely intrigued with the direction Jane’s relationships are taking. A total surprise for me was her changes with Soul. There are others that I can’t mention because it could be considered a spoiler...let me just say there are a few relationships that are evolving and some characters I am very much looking forward to their return in Jane’s life.

I read this book completely for the pleasure of reading a series I love. I picked it just for me! As a huge fan of the Jane Yellowrock series, I was thrilled with Blood Trade the sixth installment in this series. Riveting from start to finish with lots of brilliant twists and turns, once again Faith Hunter outdid herself. Blood Trade is going on my favorite shelf.

As always, I loved the latest adventure with Jane. I'm really glad fences are on their way to being mended. The story was very engaging and provided additional background into Jane's past. I eagerly await the next installment in the series!

    Good Read

This was an overall good read. There were a lot of new characters which got to be a little hard to keep up with. Some of them would be introduced and not heard from again for half the book. But, I loved Janes interactions with Eli (especially) and his little brother. They are very good additions to the storyline. I like that Rick is back but Bruiser, not so much.

I've always enjoyed this series, but the first half of this book

I've always enjoyed this series, but the first half of this book was a little slow for me. Don't know if it was the book or too much distraction while I was trying to read it, but I REALLY enjoyed the second half of this book. I think one of the aspects I like most about this series is that it is hard for me to predict what's going to happen because of the complexity. Usually I see the whole book in my head after a few chapters, but not with this series. It just keeps me guess and puzzling through the clues along with Jane. It's not because it is poorly written, but because it is written so well. Another aspect I appreciate in this series is the fact that it has equal opportunity of the villains being male or female.

The overall story is getting even more complicated as each book builds on the previous. Jane's love life is also getting more complicated as well and I can't wait to see how it develops in the next book after the Bruiser and Rick revelations in this book. I'm actually hoping that she finds a new man because despite the fact I like both Bruiser and Rick, I don't think they are right for her and might be too week and selfish.

Despite all the blood and violence in this book, Faith Hunter lets us see more of the maternal and softer, caring side of Jane. We get more glimpses into Jane's past -- her contemporary childhood experiences as well as some puzzling interaction with her biological grandmother. I also enjoyed experiencing the development of Jane, Eli, and the Kid's relationship.

The ending of this book has a pleasant outcome I didn't see coming. I've been frustrated with the Trueblood family after their anger towards Jane with her killing Evangaline during her evil demon working magic. I could understand their hurt, but not them blaming Jane as through Evangaline was innocent. At the end of this book a resolution to this relationship is introduced.

    Fang's destiny Part 2

Roar looked up towards the drowning sun. "It's about sunset." He told them. "Let's go to sleep. The food will still be here. We just need to wait until tomorrow." With a flick of Spots tail, they left the scraps of food and go to their resting places. --------- Fang woke up in a jolt of terror as he heard a mysterious yowl. "Dog!" He heard Bell gasp. Fang shot u straight and ran over to the voice. "Mother?!" Fang called out. No answer reply except barking and growling. 'Oh no...' Fang thought. He ran across the alleys, corner after corner, he turned to see what more awaits him. He could hear Brick and Bone yelping and then crashed into him. "Bell is dead!" Bone gasped and ran farther with Brick on his heels. Fang felt a pang of sadness as he remembers the food pile. He raced over there, trying to forget Bell's death, and almost crashed into the food pile. He lays down and waits for Cross. Cross came n moments later with Spots and Roar behind him. They sat down and began to eat the scraps. Then, a mysterious and familiar scent reaches Fang's nose. "Escuse me...may I please share your food?" He reconizes that voice anywhere. He turned his head to see that small black kittypet that came in here yesterday. Except his plain purple collar has a very long and sharp tooth on it. Fang and his friends sat up and murmured to each other. "It's him again." Cross mumbled. "We need to chase him off again." Roar murmured. "No wait...where did he get that..." Spots started but he then turned to the kittypet. "Where'd that tooth come from?" Spots demanded. The kittypet hesitated. Fang's teeth showed and his claws unsheathed, ready to pounce. But then the kttypet puffed out his chest, acting like someone brave. "Huh? Oh, the tooth...I-" he started, but his chest fur rests and his ears flattened. Suddenly, a spark came from his blue eyes. "-I ripped it right out of a dog's head!" He spoke. Roar leaned in closer as Cross's eyes shinned in interest. Spots nodded and let him continued. Fang looked at the kittypet, who was smiling and his eyes narrowed on him. 'Am I the only one who dsn't trust this runt?' Fang thought. "The dog was going after some food I had stashed away so I had to put it in its place. It was pretty fierce, but it couldn't stand up to me. Once it was dead, I pried its mouth and took this trophey." The kittypet spoke in coragous words as he polishes his short claws on the 'trophey'. "You? You killed a dog and took its tooth? Is that a fact?" Spots demanded. The kittypet nodded as Spots, Cross, Roar, and Fang moved out of the way so the kittypet can have it. "Huh." Spots sounded impress. "Help yourself." Fang growled low, not trusting the kittypet. The black kittypet purred delightully as he ate the scraps. ---------- Cross and Fang padded through the alleyway to see Brick and Bone sharing tongues with each other. "Bone? Brick?" Cross whispered. "Yes?" Brick asked. "Well, you know that dog that killed Bell right?" Fang meowed. "And you heard gossip through that that kittypet killed a dog. Should we ask him to kill the dog?" Cross asked. Bone got up with Brick beside him. With a flick of their tails, they padded away to tell the kittypet. TO BE CONTINUED!!!!!!! THE ANSWER TO THE BLACK KITTYPET'S NAME WILL BE REVEALED IN THE NEXT PART!!!!!!!!!!! BY: Jaggedkit of SunClan...
