A welcome Leia adventure set in the time before episode 7. Politics, adventure, Han Solo, some interesting new characters and layers. Nothing new about Luke or Ben that makes difference on what you learned in episode 7. Only real complaint is the confusing use of Princess and Senator for Leia. She's not a 19 year old girl, she's a 40+ year old senator. Did Disney think fans would not recognize that name without the royal prefix? First Senator title and lead in to First Order bit on the nose, but I guess one must create build up somehow.

Taking place between Star Wars Episodes VI and VII Bloodlines is the story of Princess Leia's growing pains at the birth of the New Republic. This novel had everything I love in a Star Wars book. Swashbuckling action and intriguing character relations drive this story so quickly the only gripe I ended up having with it was wanting more. This book is at the top of the list for best novel in the new canon and sitting high on my list for best novels I've read in the franchise as a whole. While I found myself enjoying Claudia Grey's other shot in the franchise, Lost Stars, I HAD to keep reading Bloodlines. I would highly recommend this book to all likes of people that read Star Wars novels whether new to the EU, strictly old canon, or just craving a good book. This book will scratch that itch.

Great book! A little slow to start it the first few chapters as you get to know the characters but after that I could not put the book down well done
