Overview

The third and final installment of the international bestselling Nightshade trilogy!

Calla has always welcomed war. But now that the final battle is upon her, there's more at stake than fighting. There's saving Ren, even if it incurs Shay's wrath. There's keeping Ansel safe, even if he's been branded a traitor. There's proving herself as the pack's alpha, facing unnamable horrors, and ridding the world of the Keepers' magic once and for all. And then there's deciding what to do when the war ends. If Calla makes it out alive, that is. In this remarkable final installment of the Nightshade trilogy, international bestselling author Andrea Cremer crafts a dynamic novel with twists and turns that will keep you breathless until its final pages.

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 10 Up—It is always difficult to come to a trilogy on the third book. While some aspects of the world Cremer creates are tough to grasp for first-timers, she does a better-than-average job of catching readers up on what's happened in the previous two books. This is the story of Calla and Ren, two alpha werewolves destined to mate, and Shay, the human Calla changes into a werewolf to save him. Now revealed as the scion, Shay leads the quest for swords and scabbards that will enable the werewolves (Guardians) and humans (Searchers) to destroy the evil, slave-owning witches (Keepers). Both the quest and the triangular love story are old hat—as are werewolves as central characters at this point. Nevertheless, Bloodrose is a fun read, and a must-have for fans of the earlier titles.—Nina Sachs, Walker Memorial Library, Westbrook, ME

Meet the Author

Andrea Cremer
Andrea Cremer

Andrea Cremer spent her childhood daydreaming while roaming the forests and lakeshores of Northern Wisconsin. She now lives in Minnesota, but she thinks of her homeland as the "Canadian Shield" rather than the Midwest.

Andrea has always loved writing and has never stopped writing, but she only recently plunged into the deep end of the pool that is professional writing. When she's not writing, Andrea teaches history at a very nice liberal arts college in St. Paul.

In the little spare time she can find, Andrea stares up at trees, rescues infant rabbits from predatory cats, and invents names for pug puppies with her husband. She has an unfortunate tendency to spill things—white carpets beware!

    Cannot wait!

    I fell in love with this series! The main character, Calla, is a strong female in these novels. She stands up for herself! I can't wait to read Bloodrose!

    NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

    Just finshed it and I have to say this was so heartbreaking!!!! The deaths in this book were too much to live down for me. I hated it!!! I do love Andrea Cremer and everything but this book was soooo depressing to me. The action plot was pretty good, but the romance was all wrong. I am going to have to give it a thumbs down, but don't take my word for it. You should still read the book I guess...

    Amazing!!!!!!!

    Since the first chapter of Nightshade i have not been able to put the books down until the last page. There is never a point within the books that was even remotely close to boring or dull. Andrea Cremer does an amazing job of keeping you on your toes and fully engrossed in her novels. I count down the days until her third book and look forward to hopefully many more novels by Andrea

    **CAUTION SOME SPOILERS ARE HERE***
    I loved Bloodrose--I really did. I thought the action was perfect, the events leading up to the battle scene were good...but the ending just killed me. No joke. It really did. First of all, I couldn't believe that that happened to Ren. I was enjoying the book, till I heard about what happened to him. I swear, I was numb for at least a week...I was way too shocked to finish the rest of the book. Only when I realized that I still had to finish it, did I go back and read the rest. What happened to Ren ruined it for me--it really did. And that's the reason why I only rated this book three stars. For some people, they might think that it's an unfair rating...but I was a die-hard Ren fan. Honestly. I felt cheated when I realized that Ren died. Why Cremer...why? To make it worse, the way that he was killed honestly was in the dumbest way possible. Broken neck? Leaping too high? I was expecting him to go out in glory. I felt cheated out of the ending, and cheated about the way that he left the book quickly. It was like he wasn't even a character at all. He left. Just. Like. That. And I honestly didn't see the big hype about Shay to be honest. It didn't help that he was sort of a jerk in the book, especially about Ren. I thought that he could've been a little bit more understanding, since Ren didn't have as much of a choice as Calla did. And it wasn't HIS fault that they were supposed to be joined together. It wasn't REN that was controlling Calla's every actions. I also sympathize with Ren mostly because he lost EVERYTHING. Or almost everything, besides his sister. His whole entire life was a lie. His only living parent died. His mom died in an ambush. He lost the girl that he loved...can you honestly hate him for wanting to win her over? Sure, the little fighting was a little obnoxious...but c'mon! And it wasn't fair to Adne that he had to die...she lost everything too.
    ~~~
    Other than that, I thought that the little couples were adorable. I just knew that Connor had a thing for Adne since the beginning...and I was amused with his little bet with Calla. Sabine and Ethan are adorable...and I'm glad that they found each other. They're honestly perfect for each other.
    I'm curious to see where Logan went...he just kinda disappeared too. Or maybe he just died as well? I don't know...the things with the Keepers still confused me. I also thought that the ending where they became the wolves again also was interesting, but I honestly would have preferred it if they were humans. I wonder if they can still share a mind connection though? Overall, Bloodrose was a good read. The action was amazing, but the romance just pissed me off. My biggest disappointment is Ren being gone...because I thought that that was just unfair, but other than that heartbreaking part in the book, (and many tissues later) I would recommend everyone to read this trilogy(:
    Great Book, I love it hands down.
    I bought the first book a year and half ago and didn't pick it up till this past November. My thirst for more nearly killed me, but went away once i ordered the second book and pre-ordered the third.
    I love Calla because she's head strong, strategic, and a warrior. And yet I can relate to her because she's torn between two loves. The wolf she knew from her childhood, named Ren. And Shay whom she risks everything for in the first and second book. This series is awesome. Action-packed and sexy, with a very important message in the end. You won't get it till you read all the books and reach the last two chapters of this one (Bloodrose).
    Heartbreaking
    I can't give this one as good of a review as I would the first two because I am so disappointed in it. I can't believe how many characters she killed and who. Ren?? Why?? I actually cried a little when she killed Ren. I still can't believe it. Poor Adne, she made this girl loose her whole family. One thing I did like thought was that Sabine was able to be happy. I can't like this one as much as Nightshade though.
    Team Ren!
    Fast-paced action with plenty of romanctic angst
    The book is well written and I couldn't put it down. Then the last 20 pages came, those dreadful pages. You may say I was disappointed with the ending.
    Great series, but haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaated the ending.
