Meet the Author

Nicholas Sheffield grew up in Hamilton, New Zealand. He obtained a Bachelor of Management Studies from the University of Waikato, and has a long history of work in the Information Systems sector. He and his wife Simone have six children.

Double Dragon published his first work, Overlanders, in 2004. The novel revolves around a group of friends whose utopian existence is put at risk when they’re thrust into the archaic and dangerous cities of the overlands.

Sheffield’s writings are generally set in, or around, the Earth, and employ a plausible use of technology. Therefore many of the popular science fiction themes, such as time travel and alternative dimensions, never appear in his works.

The concepts that form the spine of each story are often as important as the main narrative. They’re not always held up to the spotlight, but tend to be woven quietly into the background.

    Nice paced story

    Its good to find some sci fi that isn't stupidly overdone. This story was quite well stitched together, though you almost need to read it a second time to appreciate it.

    Good short story, but ended too soon

    This short story provided some suspense with a twist at the end. However, the end left open some options that would have been good to follow through on. I enjoyed what there was, but it left me wanting more of the story.

    Another great story from this author

    I can't see why the other reviews say its too short. As a short story its a decent length.

    The mood of the story was just perfect, and I loved the way the quotes all the way through came into play at the end.

    TERRIBLE!!!

    Only about 100 pages and is VERY stupid, glad it was free, don't bother unless you have 5 minutes you need to waste. Only gave one star cause I couldn't give none or a half of one.
