    This is my first Anne Gracie book but not my last--very good!

    This book has more twists and turns than any I've read recently and makes for a historical romance that has a more complex plot.

    You have a very protective British officer and a girl in dire distress, but years later his action comes back to haunt him and he finds this young girl is now a woman to reckoned with.

    You think you have it figured out what will happen and wham a new twist takes you in another direction.

    The book is a wonderful "trip" to the era and you are rooting for these two people to find the right path to happiness. Both characters are believable and you care about them both.
