Jeremy Graham made a promise to Rebecca that he would never love another woman. After her death, he finds himself duty-bound to marry her sister. Jane, who has always been shy and content to hide in the shadows, begins to stir up old feelings Jeremy isn’t prepared for. Will a marriage that began out of duty give a lonely widower a second chance? Or will he have to keep his promise to Rebecca?

Beautiful... and possibly the best one yet. Forewarning future readers, it is a little more important in this book to read the series in order or quite a bit will be lost to you.

Ruth Ann Nordin hits all the notes. She is a 'comfortable'
companion.

I love love love this author. I have read every one of her historical romance novels except for the ones that were just released and I can guarantee I will be reading the rest shortly.
Ms. Nordin's characters are all different but likable. They are never perfect, but human. This novel tells the story of Eliza's son (Loving Eliza - also an excellent read!) that she gave up for adoption. It starts out telling how he suddenly lost his bride of less than a year, and then found love unexpectedly with her sister. It is told tenderly and with compassion. It talks of the heartache of both of them and how time helps them heal and find love with each other.

I really liked the series. This book was 510 pgs. I was disapointed that the story seemed to drag. It was not enough story for the two leading roles. I loved that he got to meet his mom. Its nice to hear about the other characters. Not enough story between jeremy and jane. Could have been much better.

This was a wonderfull conclusion to this 3 book series! I would definatly read the previous two first although its not necessary. I will be looking for more from this author. I love historical romances and she keeps any sexual scenes between married couples and does so with taste. I really hate it when i get into a romance and it ends up turning more into a erotic romance instead!

Well that would be a slightly reluctant Jeremy. Apparently stealing Janes inheritance and having her slave away for his family is not quite enough for her brother. Now he's marrying her off to some repulsive local for a few more dollars. Fortunately her deceased sisters husband gets wind of this and steps up to the plate and rescues her by offering to marry her himself. This could have been just another "I'll never love anyone but my first wife stories " but the interesting character growth and plot twists are first rate.

I have read almost every one of Ms. Nordin's books and this is by far THE BEST of the bunch!!! The narrative was exceptional, the characters believable, and the story riveting. It was the perfect ending to the story that begins in "Loving Eliza," and continued in "Bid for a Bride." This sorry does stand alone, but has so much more meaning and depth when you have read is predecessors.
I was moved to tears during this story of Jane becoming the loving wife of her deceased sister's husband. The transformation of the perception of her as her own person with albeit different but more refreshing attributes than her departed sister, is exceptionally written and moves the story on to a wonderful conclusion.
If you haven't read any of her novels and are contemplating it, I highly recommend that you start with this series: #1 Loving Eliza, #2 Bid for a Bride, #3 Bride of Second Chances. You shan't be disappointed.
