Overview

These Royals will ruin you…

From wharf fights and school brawls to crumbling lives inside glittery mansions, one guy tries to save himself.

Reed Royal has it all—looks, status, money. The girls at his elite prep school line up to date him, the guys want to be him, but Reed never gave a damn about anyone but his family until Ella Harper walked into his life.

What started off as burning resentment and the need to make his father’s new ward suffer turned into something else entirely—keep Ella close. Keep Ella safe. But when one foolish mistake drives her out of Reed’s arms and brings chaos to the Royal household, Reed’s entire world begins to fall apart around him.

Ella doesn’t want him anymore. She says they’ll only destroy each other.

She might be right.

Secrets. Betrayal. Enemies. It’s like nothing Reed has ever dealt with before, and if he’s going to win back his princess, he’ll need to prove himself Royally worthy.

The Good This series is a train-wreck that I can't stop watching. The characters in this book are all messed up, and not just the usual 'flawed'...they are seriously messed up. The phrase 'broken' describes Reed rather well. I can't help but get sucked in to the crazy chaos in these pages. I've compared it to Gossip Girl in the first one, and I think that still applies. It's a bunch of people who have money to buy them out of almost anything they come up against so they feel the right to do anything. There's the Royal family who all have one sick problem or another. However, I can't help but root for them and hope everything turns out in their favor. Why do I even like these people? The authors are just that good. I can't stop reading. I devoured these pages. The Bad Stupid cliffhanger...stupid bad crazy twist cliffhanger ending. The Romance Reed seriously screwed up in Paper Princess. I can't really say much about what happens in the romance department in this one without spoiling everything. There is a lot of back-stabbing, blackmailing, breakups, hookups, and twisted sordid affairs. Conclusion I can't stay away. The pages just suck me in and won't let me go. It's a mess with so much wrong morally that I can't even mention a lot of it. It's a bunch of rich and spoiled crazies with drama on 10.

All I can say is WOW. This book picks up right where Paper Princess left off and takes you on the ride of your life! I am not going to give you anything to go on except you really need to read this series. I want you to experience it for yourself and not go in with any preconceived ideas! If you don’t like cliffhangers, then wait until the third book is out this fall and binge read all three. I know that will happen because these books get you so hooked you will want to just keep reading. I loved all the twists and turns and I was shocked at all that went on! This book is so packed with drama and suspense you can’t stand it! I was kept on the edge of my seat wondering when the next shoe was going to drop and boy did it ever! There is so much build up and then you are hit with the craziest ending with a twist! I sat there thinking what the heck just happened? Sure didn’t see that coming! I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend you read it! This series is addicting and I can’t wait for Twisted Palace!

Holy Hell! Erin Watt is going to kill me! Totally addicting, intense, twisted and broken – The Royals will continue to shock and awe in this follow up to Paper Princess. Broken Prince begins where Paper Princess left us and I can’t help but love seeing Reed sulking because of his mistakes with Ella. This is a boy who grew up so spoiled and so self righteous who now finally understands what love is, what his feelings are, and he will fight and stop at nothing to get his Ella back. I can’t help but wish that he was truthful and honest with her from the get go so that they wouldn’t be in this place but I understand where he was coming from in wanting to protect Ella from getting hurt. This family is so broken and so messed up and it was really painful for me to watch their demise…everyone so lost…my heart just broke for them over and over again. Ella was truthfully that one bright spot in their lives; the one they needed to get them back into living, being their age and truly being a real family. Will Reed and the Royals be able to convince her to come back?? Well of course I won’t tell you but I have to say…I really love these characters and just want happiness for them all….

5 FABULOUS AWESTRUCK STARS! The Broken Prince by Erin Watt is literally everything I could hope for to follow up Paper Princess (the first book) and MORE. I mean there were a lot of variables presented in the first book and a lot of sh*t that went down right?! And yet Erin Watt managed to keep the second book interesting, set up even more sh*t that goes down, and literally have me salivating for more drama until the very last page which took the whole series in a direction I NEVER saw coming... skills and props! After reading Paper Princess and being left with the cliff hanger, I really didn't have high expectations because I knew it would be very challenging to keep up the hype to the second novel... and yet Watt far succeeded whatever I could have thought up and really brought a whole new level to this series. Not only are the bullies crueler, the fights bigger, but the whole drama itself has grown into this huge monster which is swallowing some of my favorite characters whole! The thing I admire most about this novel are the characters and their personalities. A lot of situations pop up in this book that cause authors wanting their characters to a) give up, or b) cheat... both of which I find kind of despicable within novels and very serious offenses on my no-no list. Yet the characters in this novel not only stick to their guns (sometimes facing off an entire school) but they also don't do dumb petty stuff found in other novels (although there are some incriminating circumstances). I like to actually like the characters I am reading about and Watt makes this possible by creating these characters who are definitely bad*ss but also have a softer side. Paper Princess definitely had some moments of comedic relief peppered throughout the novel and I am very glad to report that so does Broken Prince. Having these hints of laughter and moments really brightened this book up for me and broke up all of the serious issues presented. I really enjoyed finding out more about the Royal brothers and seeing their reactions to some of Ella's decisions. In the first book there was definitely a Royals v. Ella vibe going on and in this book that little battle breaks a part and several new teams form. What I would love to see happen with this series is a branch off series about each of the Royal brothers and their own personal struggles to find romance within their crazy lives. I have definitely fallen for more than one Royal and would like to see the crazy up close and in their POV. I don't know about you but I'm all for more Royals! ;) Overall though, this is a book that is going to keep you on your toes and constantly guessing what will happen next. I definitely had no idea where the author was going next but in each new direction she hit everything right on the money and managed to create a book equal to, if not better than, Paper Princess. So check out the newly released Broken Prince today!!!

Again with those endings!!! Why must you torture us like that!!! I sped through this book, I couldn’t put it down, it was impossible, just like Ella I have fallen in the arms of the Royal and I don’t want to leave them. This book had the added bonus of giving us Reed’s pov, I think it was a nice addition to have his intake of what is happening in his family and this way we got to know more about the brothers from his point of view and knowledge and not just what Ella thought it was happening. True to its predecessor, this book is FULL of drama and scandal, again I don’t want to ruin it for anyone but if you’re read Paper Princess you know you have to read this book the moment it comes out and if you are new to this series, please consider reading it, please, please, you will not regret it! I need Twisted Palace as soon as possible!

Book one left me having to know what happened next. I’m normally not into soap opera drama, but this series is addictive. The lengths the characters go to continuously surprise me. I like all the Royals more after reading Broken Prince. They all already intrigued me, but now I’ve fallen for their special brand of dysfunction. The Royals have completely ruined me, and I have a crazy case of the hot’s for them (and their madness). Seriously this should be a TV show. It did an amazing job of riling me up again and again. The biggest shocker is that ending. Good grief! I need the third installment like yesterday. I have absolutely no idea what the world they’re going to get up to next.

I’ve got a fever for the Royals, and the only cure is more Royals! If you’ve read Paper Princess by Erin Watt, chances are that the stunning cliffhanger left you not so patiently waiting for Broken Prince. I’m thrilled to report that it surpassed my expectations on every level. This book is filled with all the delicious drama and angst I craved, served up in an incredibly addictive and unpredictable way. This time around, we get Reed Royal’s point of view in addition to Ella’s, but that’s all the info you’ll get from me. I will say that I continue to be impressed by the collaborative writing efforts by Jen Frederick and Elle Kennedy (aka Erin Watt). They successfully delve into the new adult genre while fueling the interest of older readers as well. Broken Prince is a captivating, exhilarating read from beginning to end. Curse the authors and their wonderfully plotted, positively shocking cliffhanger. Dare I say it’s even more jaw dropping than Paper Princess? Yes, I definitely do. Let the countdown until Twisted Palace is released begin!

4.5/5 stars Good grief you guys. THESE BOOKS. I am not usually one for overly angsty reads, but I think it's the combined superpowers of Jen and Elle that make me love and crave it so. Paper Princess ended on a cliffhanger and I'll go ahead and warn you that Broken Prince does as well. I felt a bit more ok with this cliffhanger though than the first. The events that occur and the revelations that are sprung on us are still pretty jaw dropping, but I was less unsettled and I think it had to do with our characters and how things have played out for them. I really enjoyed this second book, but I did feel some of Ella's misgivings were a bit repetitious. I wanted to shake her and say "Ok, I get it! You've made your point! Now stop!" I completely get her hesitation and why she's resisting, but I felt it came across a bit like a broken record. I loved the addition of Reed's point of view in this book. It's always so nice to get inside our hero's head, especially since sometimes it's hard to gauge their intentions otherwise. And let me say, I absolutely love Reed Royal. He's far from perfect, but he's that flawed character you can't help but adore. I am looking forward to the final book in the series, because holy craziness at the end of this book. I am beyond intrigued as to how these new developments are going to play out! I'm ready to jump back on the Royal rollercoaster and ride this crazy train out!

You can find my full *VIDEO* review of Broken Prince on the KBN website. Broken Prince is the ONLY book that I can ever remember reading that made me immediately wish I could UN-read just to experience reading it again for the first time. This series gets more exciting and more twisty with each book and I can't WAIT to read book 3 in October! I give Broken Prince 5 out of 5 Krissy’s Stars! Xo- K *I was generously given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 - "When did my life become such a soap opera..." Stars. Broken Prince pretty much picks up where Paper Princess left off, and because of that we get quite a bit of Reed Royal’s point of view at the beginning of this the second book in The Royals series. And don’t get me wrong although this one wasn’t a 100% winner for me, I still really enjoyed most of the story, being the middle book in a trilogy there is always a concern that it will feel like a filler, and that definitely wasn’t the case with this one. A lot of questions left hanging from the first book were answered, while a whole slew of new ones were raised in relation to the Royal’s as a whole, and with certain individual characters as this portion of the drama progressed. "We’re nothing… We’re smoke-insubstantial and meaningless. We aren’t even a tragedy. We’re less than nothing." I loved that the author’s kept the pace of the plot moving at a rapid clip, nothing is left to linger for too long before you are moving onto the next shock or revelation. Reed and Easton are still my two favorite Royal’s at this point, both of them have that little-boy-lost vibe to them that I cannot help but have a huge soft spot for. "I never claimed to be a saint, I made a whole lot of mistakes before I met you…" And Ella really comes into her own in Broken Prince as well, you saw glimpses of the spark in her in the first book, but she literally takes the bull by the horns in this one, and anyone who gets in her path had better watch out, and I absolutely loved the way she dealt with certain characters in relation to this. The relationship between her and Reed is tenuous at best after the events of the first book, and I loved just how hard he worked for her forgiveness, this isn’t a girl that forgives or forgets lightly and it really, really worked because to the issues that they were going through. Okay so why 3.5 stars. Well to be honest there were a couple of parts of this book that made me cringe, I have to say that one thing the authors have done is keep the drama and angst moving along so quickly that I haven’t had the chance to get peeved at anything being overdone so far. But for me there were a couple of instances in Broken Prince that had me asking myself if they really needed to throw a certain something into the mix, I am guessing that aforementioned things will show their relevance in the last book, well I hope they do anyway. "You can’t change anything. The most you can do is keep your head down and survive." As expected, we are left on another massive cliffy, can’t say this one was as much of a surprise as the one at the end of Paper Princess, but I am interested to see where the authors take The Royals in the last book; Twisted Palace due for release October this year, as there are a whole host of loose ends to be tied up, not to mention characters due to get their comeuppance as well. "The family that fights together, stays together." ARC generously provided, and it was my pleasure to provide the above honest review.
