An enjoyable start to a great series!

With the Cyborg series, Laurann Dohner builds a world that reminds me a bit of Sherrilyn Kenyon's League series: there's intrigue, violence, romance, all wrapped up with sci-fi elements. This book introduces us to the cyborgs: they're a blending of humanity and technology who have been persecuted and pursued by humans for decades. Created to serve humanity, the cyborgs were deemed too dangerous to live once they started thinking for themselves rather than blindly following the orders of human beings. For the most part, cyborgs consider humans to be the enemy, but when our alpha male hero, Flint, meets Mira he decides he has to have her. What follows is an exciting read in which Mira encourages Flint to access more of his humanity as they struggle to find a way to make their relationship work. ~~~While I quite enjoyed this story, I will offer a word of caution about it (and the series as a whole). The book is filled with "forced-seduction" scenes, especially during the early stages of Flint and Mira's relationship. The interactions between the couple are meant to be pleasurable and are described as such, but there are moments where Mira's consent is questionable. If that's not something you enjoy in your reading, then this definitely isn't the book for you. ~~~Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book; once I started reading, I couldn't put it down (and the first thing I did after finishing it was order the rest of the series). It's a great read that sucks you in and doesn't let go.

Yaba-daba-do, anyone of these cyborgs would do.

I took a chance on this book and scored big time. I love all the highlander romance novels(big muscled guys with attitude), but not having anything new from my favorite authors, I thought I'd take a chance on this book. I don't like sci-fi stuff, but this is "outta this world". I have read them all in a month, and pray that she writes another ASAP. It's a great read, and different than the normal helpless female can't do anything on her own story. These cyborgs don't like humans, but the strong women of these stories show them that we are not all bad. I have really enjoyed the whole series.

    Waste of money

I read free books better then this. The chacters were poorly developed. The sex in the book wasn't even that great, and you just don't fall in love after one sex session without emotiion. Mira was a wet sponge that was so clinging that you wanted to slap her on the head and Flint was too mean and showed so little emotion that you just wanted to burn the book. The only thing that kind of redeemeed the book was the plot, but that even lacked.

despite the annoying justification of rape...the book deserves 5 stars

I guess rape is okay when the guy is hot and makes certain the woman is physically "prepared" for him...at least that's the point of view the author hopes the readers will embrace. Taking a woman via threats of harm from others or via coercion is still rape, whether her body reacts to stimuli or not. Ugh. I ask you other readers to just imagine this story unfolding with Flint being a flabby, pale, stinky, ugly guy with a small man part....then tell me it's not rape. He basically says "you have to pay for my protection, female! ..or I'll let a few other guys rape you instead of me. Pick which one of us rapes you and accept that you are merely a slave!" Seriously. That's what happens in this book. Sigh. And as crazy as this sounds...despite all of that, the book STILL deserves 5 stars. It's freaking annoying.

If you're into rape scenes than this is the book is for you. Fe

If you're into rape scenes than this is the book is for you. Female character is weak as prior reviews said, but honestly how strong would you be if you were told "you will comply with me or I will pass you around and you will last for a day or two and then you will be dead"? Trash, rape-porn.

This book was very harsh. Flint was really unlikable, and Mira

This book was very harsh. Flint was really unlikable, and Mira was desperate the whole book. She still wanted to kill herself in the next to last chapter because of the way he would treat her. The whole " you are nothing but my property" thought the entire story got annoying and made it hard to believe any love was there. There were so many harsh and degrading things that happened or were suggested in this book, I couldn't wait for it to end. I've stared her new species series and think I will stick with that and forget about this one because I see by the titles that some of the even nastier characters are getting their own stories...uugghh I can't imagine.

    Go for it

I didnt think the female lead had a right to demand anything from Flint she was overly dramatic, that being said i loved it enough to buy the next two books as soon as i was finished reading.

    SciFi Erotica

Well, this was my first Cyborg book but definitely not my last. Flint is a Cyborg on a pirating mission to get supplies to take to his home planet. He wasn't looking for a woman, and he didn't seam capable of love until he met Mira.

Mira is taken by Flint and branded as his property. To say she isn't happy with accepting that title is and understatement, and she causes herself a lot of trouble and heartache in the process. She finds herself falling in love with Flint but would rather die than spend the rest of her life as just property for a cyborg that can never love her. Of course one should never assume that another is incapable of love.

The love scenes are as hot as you can expect with Laurann Dohner. I look forward to reading more of this series. This would have been a solid 4 star if Mira hadn't been such an emotional disaster and a more stable emotionally. I however can't wait to read the next book in this series!

    Horrible

I HATED THIS BOOK. There is no sense of love in this book all she is is property from being exposed to twenty men to be branded, to her being sold and then forced to have someon ewatch her this book has rape all over it. Also all i felt while reading this book was pity for mira and hatred for flint dont buy it you will regret it.
