This is a great idea, but that is all it is. It could have been polished into a very entertaining novel. It is free, has potential, and you can probably read it in 10 minutes is why I have to give this 2 stars.

This was my first read on the Nook and it had me really interested. I feel that the end could have been a little better and the main characters home life a little more established but overall a decent read.

Not overly involved, the characters and storyline are developed just enough to draw you in, without pulling you into painting grand pictures in your mind while reading. I recommend it to anyone who just wants to read something interesting, that you don't have to think about, or spend time or energy interpreting. It is what it is - a clever short story.

This author made this book sound like reality and heaven put together. You can make so many predictions and the answers wont even be in the book you would finish reading without knowing what happened after. I loved this book.

Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged. This short story reminded me of one tale from a collection of "ghost stories". If it had been part of such a collection, it would probably be one of the better works offered. As a stand alone piece, I felt the characters were flat and also there were way too many people for one short story time to cut out extras. The plot line failed to pull the reader in and make him or her care about what was happening. The idea itself is one that's been done before many times. It was a fun free read but I'm not anxious for more from this author.

Very interesting story... predictable at the end but it was a good read. Very fast at only 11 pages but I liked it over all and it ended on a great sense of foreboding.
Perfect story if you have 15 minutes to kill.

Cain's Apples is a short story that must have been written by a fan of The Twilight Zone. It seemed the author was really writing a script for the classic suspense program. However, if this script was ever submitted, it would have been rejected. The writing style is sloppy and immature and the story is very predictable. Don't waste even the time that 11 pages takes to read. I can't believe I paid nothing for the book and still felt like I'd been cheated.

The ending is written as if the author wanted to hurry up and close the story. It left me with a "that was it?" feeling. Cool cover though!

I enjoyed this short story. My only wish on this was that it was longer. Bryan Lee built the plot up and had me in suspense to see what will happen next, but was disappointed on how quick the story went. Good read if you have a few minutes.

I'm going to have to agree with a previous review that there could have been more. It definitely has the potential. It is one of the more recommendable free eBooks in it's section that I've come across, though it does feel somewhat like a story a young student would write up for an English class. Still interesting enough to go through if you have some time to kill.

Not highly complicated but kept me interested. It is a nice little short story to keep you busy while waiting in a doctors office or on a quick bus ride, etc.

It was an interesting short story, but I would have liked to see it drawn out a little longer with more development of the characters and plot. However ... for the short story it was, it's not bad!
