K-Gr 4- Through this illustrated version of her upbeat song, Winans encourages youngsters to recognize their unique talents and abilities. In two different scenes, children are exposed to unpleasant experiences and respond with positive actions. Readers are reminded that what is in the heart matters most of all. As the song notes, "we have millions of children with possibilities.... What makes this world a better place is that we are not all the same." Delightful stylized cartoon images of children of color depict the characters' facial expressions, dilemmas, and their actions. The layout is straightforward and the text flows across bold, beautiful spreads. A CD is included and the original lyrics are printed on the last page. The combination of book and song would be useful to build bridges among cultures.-Margaret R. Tassia, Millersville University, PA

I bought this recently as a gift and ended up reading through it myself. I love the idea of such an uplifting song being portrayed through pictures to children 'and even adults'. The artwork was beautiful and I especially enjoyed the multi-cultural aspect of the book. I strive to find books were kids from all backgrounds are represented because after all it really is a 'Colorful World'!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
