I had read several of Madeline Baker's books before I read COMANCHE FLAME. The Character of Dancer was so strong, virile and vulnerable at the same time, that he mesmorized me. I feel that all of her other heros pale in comparison to him. It is more like the others were fashioned out of replicas of Dancer. The story was very fast paced and the history and adventure was exciting and informative. I have learned alot about the history of the Indians and I find their culture facsinating. Madeline Baker should have written a sequel to this book. It was that good! I felt I wanted to see more of Dancer. This book is in my top 5 favorite list. Some other favorites were, LAKOTA RENEGADE, SPIRIT'S SONG, APACHE RUNAWAY, & LOVE IN THE WIND. These four other books also have strong male leads and are wonderful advenutures. I highly recommend them and have enjoyed reading them immensly.

This was the very first 'grown-up' book I ever read and I immediately fell in love with Dancer. He'll always have a special place in my heart. It's one of those keep you on the edge of your seat type books. Very well written but what do you expect from Madeline Baker? Only the best, and that's exactly what she delivers each and every time!
