Songwriter Morgan adapts her "King of the World" (sung by evangelical ensemble Point of Grace on an accompanying CD) with limited success. The vaguely Latina-looking, curly-haired moppet in O'Neill's unremarkable watercolors is the very picture of her daddy; her blond mother looks on benevolently as dad and daughter frolic lovingly from her toddlerhood to the birth of her own curly-haired daughter. The song's refrain ("There's nothing better than being your girl. / If I am your princess, then you are king of the world") is rendered more or less as sung, in rhyme, but the linking verses appear in an uneasy prosified verse, making for a difficult read-aloud. Like Love You Forever, this sentimental picture book is likely to appeal more to parents than children. (Picture book. 3-6)

Meet the Author

Cindy Morgan is a wife, mother, and singer/songwriter. She has recorded eight records, had twenty number-one songs, and has won nine Dove Awards over her career, including her most recent Dove Awards for 2008 Songwriter of the Year and 2008 Country Song of the Year for 'How You Live,' the song she wrote for Point of Grace. Cindy; her husband, novelist Sigmund Brouwer; and their two daughters, Olivia and Savannah, divide their time between homes in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, and Nashville, Tennessee.

Philomena O'Neill has illustrated numerous books for children, including The Thanksgiving Bowl (Pelican, 2007) and The Little Shrew Caboose (Pleasant St. Press, Spring 2009). She lives in Seattle with her husband.

    I received Love You Forever from my son and was looking for a book for my husband from our daughter. I love this story; I was teary eyed in the store reading it. Gave it to my husband for Father's Day. Highly recommend.

    Right next to Love You Forever on my shelf!

    Cindy Morgan has once again touched the hearts of my family with her music and writing. Dance Me Daddy captures the essence of growing up and remembering the truly important memories in family life.
    Not only do you receive a beautifully written and illustrated book, but a touching CD with Point of Grace singing Cindy's song of the same title with Cindy so beautifully narrating the book and sharing the sweet story of the inspiration for her song and book.
    My 15 year old daughter and 8 year old friend both enjoyed this bundle immensely. Our son's fiancée heard the story and song, insisting she will have this song as her father/daughter dance for their upcoming wedding.
    I have acquired a collection of treasured books throughout my 22 years of parenting. Dance me Daddy will be displayed prominently next another sweet story, Love You Forever.
