DARING by Dee Davis is an exciting romantic supsense e-novella set in present day revolution torn Central Africa. It is featuring former A-TAC member, medical officer, and elite CIA team member,Lara Prescott and Rafe Winters, mercenary for hire, and security for a clinic or so it seems. After a passionate sexual encounter between Lara and Rafe,Lara believes she might could move on with her life after the tragic death of her former lover/friend/team member. But when she is targeted for a kidnaping scheme who she believes Rafe is,may not be who is is after all. Full of action, passion, sensual tension, being chased by insurgents,a bomb blast and running for survival what is not to enjoy with this fast paced story of love, healing and romance. Ms.Davis has done it again with "Daring". A not to miss story that lets the reader see the healing and moving on with her life for Lara. If you have not read any of the A-TAC series I would recommend them all. A must read with adventure, suspense, romance, and second chances with some of the elite A-TAC members returning for an appearance. Highly recommend. This story got my heart pounding right off the bat. Great read for those of you that enjoy a run through the jungle, romance, and excitement. Was a little disappointed that this story was only one hundred pages long.
My Review:
This is a novella featuring one of the past members of the A-TAC team, Lara, who has escaped to Africa after the death of her husband, Jason. Rafe is in Africa as security for the clinic where Lara works and they hook up one night after a particularly bad day at the clinic and a few too many shots at the local bar. Before they have a chance to see if things are going to develop further, there is an attack on the clinic and Lara is kidnapped. With lots of twists and turns in plot and story line, Rafe & Lara end up on the run together.
For a short little novella, there is a lot happening in this book. It is very well written and thought out. I really liked both of the characters of Lara & Rafe. Rafe has been fighting feelings for Lara for a while. She, on the other hand, is just starting to come out of her grief over her husband who died a year ago. They are in very different places about where they would like to see their relationship go, but that quickly changes when faced with life or death.
There was a lot of great suspense in this book as the couple spends the majority of the novella on the run. There were also some great cameo's at the end from the team members that we fell in love with from the first 3 A-TAC novels.
Overall this is a fabulous little read and so perfect for gearing up for the next A-TAC novel, Deep Disclosure, which is releasing in August.
