Library Journal
The fifth volume in the "Daybreak Mysteries" series (e.g., Vow of Silence, Tyndale, 1996) again features blind Christian songwriter Daniel Kaine and his wife, Jennifer. The Kaines have arrived in Derry Ridge, Kentucky, to participate in the Heritage Arts Festival. Their host, Mitch Donovan, has personal problems to deal with along with his professional duties, i.e., his good friend, a middle-aged amnesia victim named Abby, has become the victim of a mysterious stalker. In addition, Mitch's childhood sweetheart, Gwynevere, or Freddi, decided to pursue a writing career rather than settle down in Kentucky. Now a celebrity, Freddi has discovered that money and fame have given her nothing but ulcers. As the week proceeds, Abby's stalker becomes more and more violent. Hoff again offers smoothly written and enjoyable suspense fiction that should prove popular for most libraries.
