    A must read Trilogy

    This is book number one in a trilogy about three girls who are in a race to marry a Duke in order to gain their grandfather's inheritance. Phoebe meets Lord Raphael Marbrook at a ball and is instantly attracted to him. He also feels the attraction and decides that night to court her for marriage. He points Phoebe out to his half brother Calder Marbrook, Marquis of Brookhaven. Calder decides he likes Phoebe as well so the next morning he sends a note offering her marriage. Phoebe thinks the note is from Lord Raphael and so she accepts. When she realizes that she has agreed to marry the wrong brother she cannot get out of the promise. But the heat between Lord Raphael and Phoebe does not go away. They try to fight it and do the right thing but they can't help themselves. Lord Raphael throws himself at Phoebe's feet at the wedding begging her to marry him instead. But is he too late? A lovely story and a great trilogy. Read all three.

    What a waste of time!

    I have read several books by this author and have been very pleased. This was a major disappointment. It was completely outlandish and totally unbelievable. I love romance books and believe in fairytale loves but this was frustratingly ridiculous and the writing was no where near the quality I've come to expect from Ms. Bradley.

    worth reading

    I bought the three book series and it was worth the money and worth the wait for it to come in the mail from Barnes and Noble. I have also read the Liar's Club series and the Royal Four series by the same author. Both are great. It was reading these series that made me look for other books by Celeste Bradley. I would recommend all of these series for reading. Just make sure you read the liar's club before you read the royal four, I made that mistake.

    Oh this book is truly sweet. It is a frothy confection of comedy and romance that seamlessly intertwines with a story of two people's desperate search for love. I could barely contain myself with how truly sweet this story was. Phoebe Millbury is competing with her two cousins to come into a vast inheritance by marrying a duke. She is socially awkward and really funny. I'm usually annoyed by female leads but Phoebe just made me laugh. While Phoebe made me laugh, Rafe made me cry. He loved her so much and was determined to deny his feelings for her. He was so wonderfully tragic i just wanted to hug him. Desperately Seeking a Duke is light-hearted and wonderful.

    An entertaining charmer

    In 1815 their late grandfather Sir Hamish Pickering, disappointed in his daughters not marrying up, placed a stipulation in his will that has his grandchildren jumping. The first of the trio to marry a duke inherits his fortune.--------- The competing cousins (the rustic vicar¿s daughter Phoebe, the elegant Deirdre and the too tall Sophie) begin their respective quest if White¿s took a book the bets would be overwhelmingly on Deirdre. Phoebe plans to go through the motions of her London season, but refuses to truly participate until she meets Rafe Marbrook, who to her shock seems interested in her. However as he courts her, she learns he is not the heir to the dukedom of Brookhaven, but instead the half-brother to the future Duke Calder who decides to marry Phoebe. She must choose for love or money.---------------- This amusing take on the Regency marriage go round will have readers laughing out loud with the antics of the first Heiress Bride who must choose between the brother she loves and the brother Sir Hamish would select for her. Adding to the fun is the heroine¿s ethics that do not allow her to tell the Marbrooks the truth about the will as she does not want to harm her cousins¿ chances (coming in the next couple of months). Celeste Bradley continues her level of historical excellence (see the Royal Four spy romances) with this entertaining charmer.---------- Harriet Klausner
