Meet the Author

P.C. Cast was born in Illinois and grew up being shuttled back and forth between there and Oklahoma, which is where she fell in love with quarter horses and mythology (at about the same time). She could ride before she could walk, and she read every horse story she could get her hands on until her father introduced her to The Lord of the Rings when she was about ten years old. She went from that to Anne McCaffrey's Pern-and was hooked on fantasy for life.

Five days after graduating from high school, she joined the United States Air Force, which is where she began speaking professionally. After her tours with the USAF, Ms. Cast attended college as a literature major with a secondary education minor.

Her first novel, Goddess by Mistake, was published by a small press in 2001. Thoroughly shocking the author, it won a Prism, a Holt Medallion and a Laurel Wreath, and was a finalist for the National Readers' Choice Award. Since then Ms. Cast has gone on to win numerous writing awards. Ms. Cast is thrilled that with her Parthalon series for LUNA Books she has been given the opportunity to continue the world she created in her first book.

P.C. Cast lives and teaches in Oklahoma with her fabulous daughter, her spoiled cat and her Scotties--better known as the Scottinators. The daughter attends college. The cat refuses higher education. The Scottinators are as yet undecided about their future.

    Hmmm...

Although I found this book pretty good, I'm upset with a few things. I ordered this on the Nook (didn't know it was a short story/prequel book). The story seemed a little rushed and on the Nook, a few pages weren't even complete. If you're going to put a book in e-reader form, the least you can do is have all the pages completed. I do, however, really want to read the actual series but I would have liked Aine and Tegan's story to be longer (to actually get to know the characters and fall in love with them). Hopefully, they're in the other books. I don't think it's an unnecessary prequel, as another reviewer mentioned, but I wish I had known it was a prequel before buying it.

    Unnecessary prequel

This book was really short. Also, the storyline contradicts at least one major aspect of the main Partholon series in terms of the origins of the vase.

    ***** SPOILER ALERT!!!*****

If the two protagonists in this prequel were sent by Epona to bring the vase back to Oklahoma to await her Chosen, then why the heck did Bres need to pave the way for Rhiannon by bringing this vase into Oklahoma?? In short, this prequel was pretty unnecessary and did not fill in any blanks. It doesn't say anything about what happened as a result of the female protagonist's warning to Guardian Castle either at the end of the book.

    Good but disappointing

This was my first P.C. Cast book. I was unaware that it was a novella type story. The storyline captured my attention enough for me to read and finish this before I went to bed last night but I was disappointed that Tegan and Aine were not developed further. I found their relationship interesting so the end was bitter sweet. I'm not a big fan of explicit sex scenes when reading and hate it when authors turn to writing them as filler so I was relieved to find that Cast just merely touches on a scene and then moves on with the story line. Overall, it was a good read but I'm not sure I will continue reading this particular series of hers.

    Nice prequel...but

Overall a nice prequel to the divine series, but word of warning well under 100 pages. Really wish she had expanded on the storyline a little more, there was definitely room to. Still was a good short read.

I found this series by accident... I am in love with this story! I now own 17 P.C Cast/ Kristen Cast books. The Partholon series is amazing and I fell in love with Clanfintyn immeditaly! If you love this series you should read PC's Goddess Summoning Series.... Also a fantastic series!

    I Also Recommend:

TOO much fantasy but great story.

I don't mind fantasy. In fact i really liked it. Until there was an affair between a person and a centaur... That didn't work for me. It wasn't romantic to me. Besides that, the characters and especially the WORLD and plot are well developed. I almost wish i could get past the centaur thing and finish the book.

    Great Read!

I enjoyed this read very much. Though it was a short story, it had my attention. PC cast did a great job on the characters as well. Can't wait for her next book in the series!
